Lift Kit
What's up everyone, I'm new to the Jeep family I have an 08 sahara and was looking at the skyjacker kit on quadratec and it say's the 2 door is a 5" and the 4 door is a 4" lift. Would the 5" lift work with stock driveshafts?

I was actually more under the impression that the longer wheel base rigs, and their longer shafts, were able to get higher without needed augmentation, as compared to the poor undershafted short shaft 2 dr guys.

I have 35.12.50's on stock lift and 3.21 gears. I does everything I need it to do. I thought about a lift but it may get a little top heavy for going down trails and climing hills and stuff like I do. I went to Disney on the Mid-West meetup tread on the trails and tails forum and I never got caught up in anything where I needed a lift. If you take yours in deep water of over rocks while rock climbing or if you just like to be big and cruise town then IMO the lift would be great. What do you want this lift for?
Are you a 2dr?

You can go 3 on the 2dr and I believe 4in on the 4dr until you need d shafts.

I'm not looking to go crazy ,I just wanted a little more height because I went wheelin with it for the first time with my friends and there was alot of spots with long stretches of water and a couple deep spots that they went through but I had to find another way I was a little nervous about water screwing up the engine. Most of them have a 4" lift, 33x12.5 SS, and a few had a snorkle(not sure if that is neccesary though).

Yeah - the 2 drs have shorter shafts, because the trucks are shorter...so a lift makes the drive line angle more severe.
The 4 dr has a much longer wheel base, and a long driveshaft, so a lift has less impact upon the involved angles.
So, rule of thumb...3" SWB rigs need a new shaft.
4"+ LWB rigs start to need new shafts too.
There are tricks like tilting inputs and outputs, etc...to reduce the acuity, but, eventually, if your lift it enough, the 4 drs need the new shafts too.

If yours is a 2dr you can get a 3inch and not need new shafts, and still go 33's and 35's. Yours is the sahara so you prolly have 4.10 gears and if thats a 6speed then you can go with the 3inch and 33's or possibly 35's depends on you and with this you wont need gears or shafts and be alot bigger than stock and have $2100 to do something else with.
