Lift Kit
Hi all,
So my dad owns a 2009 2 door Jeep Wrangler and was considering a lift kit but had a few concerns before purchasing one. We are looking for about 2 inches of lift and decided that purchasing used Rubicon Unlimited shocks and coils are the best option for our needs, and have a few questions for people with knowledge on the subject.
1. Does swapping to the Rubicon suspension change how the Jeep handles very much? (Stability wise more than anything)
2. Has doing this caused any issues for people?
3. Since it is still technically stock Jeep suspension, would it be under warranty?
Any answers would be greatly appreciated on the topic!
Thanks, Grant

I am not an expert on lifts but from what I have read on the form the JKUR springs in a 2dr will change the height how much I am unsure, as for ride quality I would think it would ride like a Rubi I assume a lite stiffer not sure, as for warranty you just might have to find a mod friendly dealer technically any alteration can void a warranty on an effected part.

Yes I realize there are other thread on this topic, I just had two questions I had not seen answered yet, so I figured I would ask them as well as the 1st question in hopes to get a more specific answer.
The suspension is still warrantied on an 09? You would have to get a really anal service guy who was looking for any excuse to deny a claim, he would have to read the tags on the coils and research the fact that they didn't come from the factory on your jeep.
If you actually gain 2", you can't expect it to handle the same. It will be just like any other 2" lift. Higher center of gravity. Lower caster, which causes flightier steering. Brakelines will be stretched a bit. Swaybars will be angled down a bit. The shocks will be too short, limiting downtravel. Since the coils are made for a heavier 4door, the ride may also be stiffer. Will you (your dad) care about any of that? At 2", maybe, maybe not. It's just worth noting.

I forgot axle centering. Both of them will be shifted off to one side a bit (one tire sticking out further than the other).
For the swaybars, since you will have stock length shocks (very short for the lift height), flipping the swaybar around backwards when flexing the suspension shouldn't be an issue. But, disconnects are very popular, if you are considering them.

I really doubt you are going to see a 2" increase in ride height and rubicon coils are not special you want to look at the numbers they have. A rubicon or sahara unlimited with a hardtop and tow package should have the heaviest coils you can get.
