First, you will not need new axles if you lift it. What size tires do you want to run? Whats the purpose for your build? Looks? wheeling?

I don't think size of lift matters on axles. I am pretty sure tire size does so it would all depend on size tire you want to run. I might be wrong though.

Since you have a 2 door, you will need a rear drive shaft. If it is auto you will need a new front ds. But all of this is only dependent on if your lift is more then 2.5 inches.

thats a very very tall lift to run 33's. With a 3" lift height on a two door you need adjustable control arms front and rear, along with driveshafts. Most JK's at 3" of lift run 35's or 37's.

If you run a 1.5" lift kit, you will have plenty of room for offroading. It will also look proportional at ride height.

My 2 1/2 inch suspension lift lifted my bare-bones to door at least 3 inches so remember that to! that's what I have 33's on my truck
And under full articulation I can still stuff my back tire into my stock flares I wouldn't want to be any lower

If you go any higher you're going to spend quite a bit more money. And my old boy off roads just fine . Can't imagine where I've ever need to go he wouldn't bring me

Driveshaft angle becomes too great therefore drive shafts too short. And when you lift the jeep it moves the axles . Too much lift the axles will be too far out of line. Adjustable control arms and track bars fix this
