Default Lift Question

I am brand spankin new to all this jeep stuff and am lovin every minute of it. I am very interested in installing a lift (3 or 3.5in, no higher) on my 2010 Sport. I am sure all of this has been addressed before, I couldnt find answers though.

I read the FAQs on suspension and it listed all the parts I will need. Do all of these come with the lift package that you buy (from quadratec or anyone else)?

I am sure this will open a war, but what is a good lift package in the size I want for say around $800? I was seriously looking at Skyjacker, then I read a bunch of bad stuff.

I hear Teraflex is good, but i cant make heads or tails of the packages that are advertised online.

Also, how the heck do I know if I need a short arm system, a long arm system or no arms with the system I buy?

HELP PLEASE!!!!! LOL

Honestly I would get a lift with arms , a drag link flip kit if you go over 3" . It also depends what you are going to do with your Jeep.

Long arm kits are the extream side of the lift you get more articulation and better ride quility I feel. TeraFlex LA kits are labor intensive and require cutting and welding your Jeep.

If you just want to look better for now I would do a TeraFlex Leveling kit. Save your money up and buy a complete kit and you will have little if any issues with castor/camber, the dreaded DW.

I definitely dont want to get into cutting or welding. What should I be expecting to spend on a lift. Apparently I am way off on my expectations. I plan to keep the Jeep forever and want to only do good things and buy quality products that will last.

what size tires do you want to run? how much do you want to spend. I am fairly new to jeeps, also, but have been learning a ton here.

what gears do you have... if you have the 3.73, you will want to stick to 33's, unless you want to re gear. if you dont plan to re gear and want to stay at 33's, i would just do the TerFlex 2.5" coil lift with shocks. you can run 35's on this lift, but again, youd want to re gear to at least 4.10 gears for 35s.

i guess what im getting at is what are your plans with your jeep to want to go to a 3-3.5"?

LOL you will get past the cutting and welding part, we all do eventually.

Well in order to do a quaility total lift i would say a couple of grand, then do the install.

I have the same mentallity, Iam keep it forever. So I did the LA lift cut and welded, flip kit ,and it keeps on adding up. Running 37s. My next step is the EVO coilover/lever system.

Think about your mods carefully and save for the best. Hope this helps.

Actually lift the jeep all you want just stay with the right tire size for your gears. Regear when its affordable.

I am going for a Hybrid, I want a good light off-road machine. Nothing crazy like I see some guys do. More for utilitarian purposes than climbing huge rocks. I do want to be able to do some decent trail-riding though.

But I still want it to be a daily commuter vehicle as well.

I currently still have the stock tires on it and plan to keep it that way. Not a huge fan of goin as big as 33s, maybe up to a 31 or 32.

If you're looking at a 31 or 32 inch tire, (32's come stock on rubicons and sahara's, you know?) why do you need a 3+" lift? You can easily run 35's with that size lift. 37's with some trimming.

You might look at one of the long travel levelling kits, though. 2" up front, 1" in back to level it out. Plus some goodies to give more travel.

I want a lift because I feel like my Jeep looks too squat. Needs to stretch its legs and I feel like it would look better.

it sounds to me like a 2.5" lift wll be perfect for you. check out the terflex stuff.
my rubicon, in my photo gallery is a 2.5" teraflex coil lift with 9500 shocks on 35's. if you want to keep the stock size tires, anything bigger than a 2.5" lift will look funny, IMO.
