Default lift size???

ok thanks to everyones help yesturday i have come to the conclusion that 6" is a bit rediculous. now though i find the problem of the right size lift. i have an 09 jk 2dr soft top. its light. so i looked for 3 in lifts to keep the center of gravity low. problem i saw though was that when they say 3 inches its measured with a 4dr hard top so on a 2dr it said about 5 in front and 4 in back. is true? where can i find a 2inch heavy duty long arm lift and can i still put 37's on it? i really like teraflex.

honestly, you do not need long arms for just 2" of lift. the jk arms are plenty long and they'll work just fine. also, if you're planning on running 37's with just 2" of lift, you do know that you will have to do a lot of trimming and add bump stop extensions to prevent rubbing, right?

2inch long arm with 37's?
Regardless of 2 or 4dr, you need at least 4" of lift for 37's.
You also need wheels with 4.5" backspacing or less.
You gonna have to regear.
And you will need to reinforce your axles, (sleeves, C2 etc).
Driveline mods should also be considered.
And I'd suggest getting a pretty complete kit like RE 4.5" LA, FT Ultimate 4" or TF Elite 4" LCG..

IMO, putting on 37's needs to be done properly or things will go wrong eventually.

not exactly. you can definitely run 37's with just 2" of lift and there are guys like planman who are doing it now. in fact, it's a great setup if you're looking to keep your COG down and you definitely don't need a long arm kit to do it. heck, i ran 37's on short arms for a little more than a year and trail bud is still running 37's, short arms and coilovers without any problems. unlike the TJ, the JK control arms are significantly longer and they work just fine with 37's. as far as axles go, you definitely need to gusset up the C's as they will bend with 35" tires but sleeves are completely unnecessary. rather than waste your money on them, i would buy chromoly axle shafts instead. even if you could bend an axle tube, you can still drive without any problems but if you snap a shaft, you can be left high and dry if you don't have the right tools and knowhow to pull it. and, even if you do pull it, you won't have 4WD anymore.

i'm not so sure why you're determined to go long arm with a small lift but yeah, you could make that work. so you know, the main reason for going long arm is to help correct suspension geometry after installing a tall lift and that's not something you are looking to do. but hey, it's your jeep and your money
