Default Lift, tires, and gears - First post!

Whats up everybody, new to the forum here! Just bought a 2012 4 door sport automatic. I'm getting the 2.5 teraflex suspension lift and looking at getting 315/70R17 BGF all terrains... Will I need to regear? What will happen if I don't?

Welcome!

I have a 2010 with the 3.8 so I can't say for sure, but most guys with the new engine and tranny seem to say they're good without regearing. I'd run it for awhile and see how it does.

Most automatic Wrangler Sports I see on dealer lots all have 3.21 gears, and even a lot of Sahara's! Even with the new engine 3.73's seem light for 37's. In most threads on here charts are saying it'll work, but it's not ideal. Changing to 4.56 or 4.88 is recommended for 37's to restore original power, mpg, and less strain on the whole drivetrain.

I've got 35's with 3.73 on a manual 12 and its okay. I can't imagine highway with 37's. At 3.21 I wouldn't be happy and would probably be looking around 4.56 for climb, maybe 4.10 if I didn't do so much rock.

I've got a '12 6 speed sport and it came with 4.10 gears. I haven't started any mods yet but they will coming shortly after I start my new job. But I only plan on running 35's with either the 2.5 Teraflex kit or the 3 inch kit.
