Default Lifted and now can't get alignment, HELP

I had a teraflex 2.5 BB put on my unlimited sahara last week. I had a few horrible death wobbles before I could get it in for alignment. Today I take it in to firestone for an alignment and they say they can't do it because multiple problems.

First the front needs cam bolts and they can't align without them. Second the rear is "too messed up" and the work needs to be re-done. The thrust angle is sitting at 0.47 and needs to be at .25 and their mechanic can't touch it with the way it is now.

I have already spent some good money in this and can't believe it's turning into a bigger issue than I thought. How do I go about resolving this? And are the problems caused by the guy who did my lift or those death wobbles I had prior to trying to get an alignment ? This ruined my whole weekend!

I'm sorta in the same boat. The guy who did my lift and gears has been swamped with work (im guessing/hopeing) and hasn't called to set up a time to get my alignment done; been 4-5 weeks now since the lift was installed.

I took it to an alignment place and they gave me the same crap about needing extra parts. The guy even showed me the catalog book with the prices for the parts. It would have ended up costing me 400 bucks for alignment and the parts he said i needed. I told him i was going to take it back to the guy who did the lift install. He still charged me 55 bucks just for putting it on the lift and performing the diag.

Yai had to pay the same price and got quoted on the same parts. But what am I suppose to do, take it back to the guy who did the lift and say, do it again?? Lol I don't get what taking it back to the guy will do.

You don't need an alignment after a 2.5" lift.

Your caster will be out of spec, but it doesn't matter at 2.5".

Your thrust angle will be off without an adjustable front trackbar, but that doesn't matter with a 2.5" lift.

Death wobble is nearly always due to improperly torqued front trackbar bolts.

Look at my profile and select the link of threads started by me. I have a write-up thread that explains DW.

So without that front trackbar am I always going to have the constant wobble and shake that I'm feeling even while driving at low speeds?

And I'm not judging your advice but why is no alignment needed for a 2.5? I thought when any sort of work is done sling these lines, an alignment was needed.

I had the same issues. If I can give you some advice, contact a offroad center in your area and ask them if they know of a place that has experience with lifted rigs. Take it to them and see what they say. What happened with me is that a guy told me I needed a whole bunch of stuff like you. Took it to a guy he told me that I needed offset ball joint, that took care of it. I just put spidertracks wheel spacers on it and made it drive even better. (I am using stock rims)

What happened most likely is the guy that put your track bar on did the goodandtight method. That bolt needs to be at least 125ftlb, which would be hard to due with a regular socket wrench. Do not drive it anymore until you fix this or your track bar holes will be wallowed out. Get a torque wrench and crank it up. An alignment shop can only adjust your toe in. Castor, camber, etc etc can not be adjusted with your current set up.

Good to know, I am probably taking it by a 4 wheel parts tomorrow and see what they say.

And I found out that the rear trackbar was installed w/ the bracket that came with the teraflex kit too and the guy who did the lift says that most of the time, cam bolts are not needed for 2.5 lifts or less. So I think those guys just weren't familiar with the lifts that we all are use to.

I have my torque wrench, but mamma isn't too happy with me right now because of all the time and money thats going into this jeep and Ive had it for only 3 weeks ha ha. Oh well, let her go have fun in her stupid 2008 bright red corvette.. her loss.. i think

As Planman said, a front end alignment is not really necessary with a 2.5" BB. Your caster will be slightly lower and your axles will be slightly off center. The caster is not adjustable with stock control arms and you don't want or need cam bolts. An adjustable front track bar and rear lowering bracket will re-center your axles. Make sure your track bar bolts are torqued to 125 ft. lbs. with the weight of the Jeep on the ground to prevent DW. Check out this write-up on how to do it yourself:
