Default LIFTING MY JKU Rubi

All right guys, I tried looking for the answer and got so lost in the search that my wife sent a rescue party for me. I was thinking about lifting my 2011 JKU Rubi to fit 35" tires. When I propose the idea of lifting the JK to the wife, she threw this question at me, -"Is it going to be a straighforward lift or are we going to go in debt buying tons of stuff like we did the our old yj?

*We had a failed attempt before with my old YJ when I attempted to lift it on my own. Dont ask, please!

I have no idea how to respond to that so i pose the question to you, is this all I need to lift my 2011 JKU Rubicon to fit 35's?

Teraflex budget lift 2.5
1.5 Spydertrax Wheel spacers
35 inch tires (reusing my stock rims)
Front axle C Gussets

We are beginner wheelers that do a little trail riding, weekly beach run with the ocassional little mud holes.

The lift you chose is fine and straight forward. If staying with stock wheels go with a 1.5 inch wheel spacers verses the 1.25. Otherwise you'll have to grind down the original wheel studs as they will stick past the spacer preventing your wheel being flush against it. And stick with good brand like spydertrax. And with 35's depending on what gear ratio you are running stock you may need to regear so figure about another 1,000-1,500 for that. If you have the 4:10 you may get away with it depending on what the terrain is like where you live. Also, if you have an auto verses manual plays factor as well

Oh and also recommend getting c gussets for the front axle too as those are prone to bending with 35+ tires. You can get the gussets from Offroad evolution and they're about $100 then have to weld them on

I believe I have the 4.10 gears, I have the COD Black Ops edition Rubicon with the automatic transmission. We live in Eastern North Carolina, right on the coast. Thank you for the quick reply and good information. I need all the ammunition I can get to fight this battle, lol!

My boss did the Budget Lift, and a Body Lift also. (Body to make it look more aggressive) He got new wheels and tires so didn't need the spacers, you will if running stock wheels. I run the RC 1.5" Wheel spacers and like them. He did not do C Gussets, and has been running great for 1 year.

I did my 2010 myself. I have done some lifts before so I have a little experience. I went with the RC3.25 lift. All components fit nicely except for the front brakeline extensions. I later added braided longer lines. This is roughly a 2.5 inch suspension with the addition of 3/4" spacers on top of the springs.
There was a rear trac bar lowering bracket and it fit nicely.
I did not need a spring compressor to get the springs in and the shocks fit fine. Took me about 3 hours of slow working.
I purchased 35x12.5x17 tires and 17.9 wheels with the suggested 4.5 - 4.75 backspacing. No rubbing issues.
I had no driveline vibration or issues there. I took it for an alignment and they made no changes.
Looking back, I still would like to add in a front adjustable track bar as the front is about 3/4 inch off center.
Jeep drives like a 4x4 with wide tires. Tends to get pulled around on the country roads but cruising 70 on the highway is all good.
I have run the suspension for 2 years now with the 35's on it for summer. All of my use has been daily driver only with no off-road. No issues up to now.
Hope this helps you cause.

I run 35s on a d30 front with 3.73 gears and no gussets. Hasn't broke anything yet. You have d44 front and rear and 4.10 gears. You should be fine with just the lift and spacers. I would consider a superchips or something with the automatic because it does wonders from what I understand as far as retaining power.

Cool, thank you guys for all the responses. I went out this weekend with the wife and after getting stuck twice she is in the "Lets make a list" mode. She wants to add the RC Hybrid bumper and a warn winch. I am so excited.

If that's all the lift you want...I went with 2.5 TF coil and now looking at RK 3.5...you should get the AEV pro cal to adjust your computer for the tires. Makes a world of difference. That's about $150. 35"s you will probably want a tire carrier at some point. Or at least modify the stock one. So you can spend any where from $65 to $1500 on that depending on brand and type.

Good luck. My wife is riding me to stop buying so much just for a jeep. Lol.

I've installed a number of lifts on various vehicles over the years and the JK platform is really a straight forward install, provided you stay under four inches of lift. For what it is worth, I just installed a Zone 3" lift this this weekend, with a JKS adjustable tracbar, and used nothing but basic tools. The only "special" tool needed was a torque wrench. Given you are at Camp Lejeune, I'm guessing you can find tools and help there!
