I've read that thread more than a few times (awesome FAQ imo)...but it still doesn't answer the question. It only states that you need more backspacing with wider tires. Some lifts note that you must have 4.5" backspacing or 1.5" spacers (ie Teraflex), and some don't say (RC).

My question is still : Do all 2.5" coil/spacer lifts require more backspacing due to their design or can they all be used with stocker wheels? If not, which ones can be run without spacers/new rims?

I want to know the answer to this as well. I want to put a 2" lift on my 2011 JKU, and want to use stock wheels. Funny how everyone keeps dodging the question!

The backspacing required isn't because of the lift. The backspacing is for the tire width. Your stock tires are only like 10.5" wide. And this width is fine for the 6" backspacing on stock wheels. But when you go to a 12.5" wide tire, you will get rubbing on full turns without proper backspacing to make up for a wider tire.
So no matter the height of lift, or even no lift at all. 4.5" backspace is only needed with a tire wider than 12".

My main reason is because of the longer links for the sway bars not fitting inside the stock wheels, hence the need for spacers. I want to use stock wheels with a 2" spacer lift. I have a 2011 Sahara 4 dr with 18" wheels.

Is this just the rear, front, or both?

I have the 3" Teraflex. I think the stock links are 9.5" and the replacements were 12 or 12.5". I have 17" wheels and the links are about an inch too long to fit inside the rim. TF instructions have you mount them on the inside of the arm, unlike stock. Doing so worked for all my street driving. The clear the wheel and tire with room to spare. When I took it out to the desert this last weekend the passenger side link was hitting the sway bar mounting bracket on bigger bumps--very harsh. I ordered the Spidertrax spacers yesterday so I can move the links to the outside of the sway bar. I plan to keep the stock wheels for a while, at least until the stock tires wear out.

If you went with the 2.5" coil lift or BB the links might fit inside your 18" rims. Check the TF site for the dimensions and then measure your ride.

The links for the front or the links for the rear. Both are longer than original. And as the above post said, you can mount them onto the inside instead of the outside and see if that helps. If not, then you will need the spacers for the clearance.

I have the 2.5" TF coil lift and stock 18" Sahara's and do not have this problem.

Somebody may correct me if I'm wrong. But you can run any lift you want with OEM wheels and tires with no rubbing issues. .

ID:	243097I just installed a RC 2.5" BB with RC discos on a 2010 Sahara with stock 17" rims and stock BFG 32" tires. No issues at all. Love the ride and no issues handling.
