Lifts: Best bang for your buck
I need a lift on my jeep. I dont want to drop thousands of dollars on a lift. I want a 4" lift and I want to know what is the best lift for a budget around 700 bucks? I want something that I can get some good flex with. What do you guys think?
You may want to consider Teraflex. They are very well respected around here
Love my Rock Krawler 3.5" flex kit. SS front brake lines, adjustable front track bar, nice quick disconnects, and SOLID adjustable LCA for about a grand. Much better than the grand I spent on the SkyCrapper lift on my first JK.

You aren't going to get a 'complete' lift for that, so decide which components are important to you and go from there. You can always add to it later...
This one in the FAQ's would be a good place to start:
Q: What are all the components that I will need with a 4" lift?
Notice the recommendations for driveshafts!!

I just put a 4" Superlift on this past weekend that cost a grand (Got the SS shocks instead of the basics). This is a complete kit if you're ok with running cam bolts. I opted for the fixed front lower control arms to correct the caster instead of the cam's since just about everyone HATES cam bolts that I've talked to. I'm running 37's and only had to cut about 3" off each side of my air dam to turn lock to lock. Haven't trimmed or replaced my fenders but would need to once I stuff a tire all the way. Be forewarned though: the kit claims "no cutting/welding". BS... That's only if you run the [not included] bolt-on rear track bar relocate. The kit comes with a bolt-on that requires you to weld on a support brace. Now, I'm ok with that since I have a welder but just beware. Other than that, absolutely no complaints. Most of the guys on here jock TeraFlex hard, and rightfully so... but good luck finding a 4" TeraFlex kit for that kind of $. If I was going to wheel hard and/or had the cash to drop, I'd run TeraFlex again (ran their S4TL kit on my TJ and LOVED it) but 2 kids, a mortgage and the Jeep being my 2nd vehicle means I'm in the lower category as far as blinged out kits goes.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention: This same kit with the yellow basic shocks runs about $770 so I guess it's relatively in your ballpark (that's with stock front lowers so you'll have to use the supplied Cam Bolts and the weld-on rear track bar bracket if you ONLY use what's in the kit and nothing more).

Running a 4" kit on an unlimited doesn't require new drive shafts. I have the superlift 4" lift and i love it. Did the steering stabilizers too. The kit was $650....SS was another $175.
Good Luck!!

Looks like 2 votes for the Superlift here though.
