Default Lifts....the ultimate question

Ok....so here goes...

I'm planning on lifting my 2-Door and goping with 35" Wrangler MTRs....

The question is....do I be patient and save the money to go complete lift kit tires/rims at once

OR

Get a BB and throw bigger meats on the stock rims?

Obviously the main difference is how soon they can happen with the full out version being more expensive....but better long term?

Thanks guys

SAVE your cash and wait. Dont dick around with a BB. Just got straight to a long arm.

If I had the cash, thats what I would do. Dont forget about new driveshafts.

I'd say lift it and get tires on the stock rims. You can always replace the rims down the road.

I went the BB route first. although it makes me happy in the interim, it would be more cost effective to save up and do it all at once. I eventually want to get to 3-3.5" and 35's, but that'll likely be 3-4 YEARS down the road. If had i saved and did it at once, it would likely be happening right now.

If i could do it all over again...

...i'd probably still be an impatient schmuck.

Same here... Especially the impatient schmuck part I've been upgrading my 2.5 Teraflex BB for the past year. Ive been doing it piece by piece to spread out th cost. So far it has worked out well, but I still wish I couldve done it all at once.

You'll feel better once you get a lift on and the 35's. How much money are you talkin about spendin on a lift? A decent BB (with shocks and bump stops) will run you about 400.00. I just put on a 4 spring kit with shocks from Teraflex and it was 559.00. It looks great, rides great, and is easy to install. I've had it out on the trails twice so far and it performs great also. Sure, I'd love to have a long arm kit and all the bells and whistles to go with it, but my pockets ain't that deep. And for what I do with it, this is good for now. I may get new arms someday, but for now I really don't need em'. I know what five 35inch MTR's cost, even with your dads discount (I get the same discount) and 5 wheels. Check this kit out at Northridge, part #1251000. I got 3+ inches out of it. I picked up a used MORE 1 inch body lift that I haven't installed yet. I think you'll be happy with it. Heres my jeep. This is just the 2.5 spring kit I was talking about, no bodylift yet.

Keep an eye on that driveshaft, you might be buying new arms and shafts before you plan on it.

That's what I'm doing but I have my own reasons:

1. My wife is only 5' tall and more than 2" would mean a divorce since she won't be able to get in! ..no cracks please!!

2. I'm leasing my Jeep and not sure if I'll be keeping it after the 4 years. So everything has to be reversible.

3. Money is a factor...as usually is for most.

4. I don't plan on doing any hard core off roading and do a lot of hwy driving.

5. I don't want to stray too far away from the voiding of the warranty.

I would go with a BB and the tires....when the time comes to go bigger you can sell the BB here and get 1/2 your money back.....just my thoughts.
