Light Bar Power Outage
I tried searching for similar posts and could not locate one similar to this situation, so here goes. Bought my son a Lifetime 50" LED light bar for Xmas and since electronics are better left to skilled people, we had it installed by a local shop that "specializes" in aftermarket accessories and installation. They elected not to wire the bar up to a dedicated switch and tapped into the existing KC slim light switch harness and switch - which is wired directly to the battery. We picked up the JKUX last night after they closed, but decided to try it out. After 13 seconds the bar and KC's went out. I'm guessing the relay couldn't handle the load? Not sure if it is as simple as a fuse? Problem for me is, I can't bring it back to the shop tomorrow for them to correct, as my son left early this morning back to campus {4 hour drive}. Anyway, it looks great on the JK, but it doesn't work. Will probably have him try to locate a similar type of shop out near campus. Any advice is welcome.

Doesn't seem a good idea to wiring the halogen lights and 50" bar into the same switch first of all; that's a lot of electrical load.
Fuse is always a good place to start. The fact they did what they did I would assume they didn't up the gauge of wire for the extra load or make sure the fuse was rated for the load.
I'm not even close to an electrical expert, mechanical guy, but wiring lights is easy. They come with harnesses and all you have to do it is run the wires neatly to the battery and find a place to put the switch. If lifetime doesn't come with a wiring harness then I would have a better shop fix his situation.

I agree. This doesn't seem like a logical install and that they cut corners. Unless you asked them to tap into the same switch. I agree they probably did not upgrade the gauge wire or fuse and it probably overloaded. I would run on a separate wire and switch. I would also ask for a refund from original installer.
