Default Line x the grill

I talked to the line x dealer today about doing my grill and he told me they would have to "totally encapsulate" the grill because it is plastic and it would flake off. Has anyone else ran into this?

My entire grill except for the rubber moulding on top was linexd. That's the way to go

I have never used bed liner before......not sure how much 'give' it has to it........i think the key is in the prep work......but being a plastic part, it very well may flake off if it does not flex with the plastic.......if you do a search I am sure you will come up with a 'how to'.........and the painters of the bunch will chime in too I am sure

My grill was line x'd on just the front and the sides, not all the way around the back. It's held up perfectly over the last couple years with no signs of flaking or anything. I don't think the back is necessary if the line x is applied properly. That being said, I don't see it hurting at all doing the entire front and back.

Default Another option

I purchased Hurculiner and had good results on winch plate and gerry cans. Im going to try grill next since I have a spare. The thing is you have to use a professional spray gun to get professional look and even coat (I would do 2). I tried the brush and roller it came with on it doesn't come on evenly. Gallon of the stuff is only $80 and it covers a lot and looks good.

That's $80 and line x only charges $75 for the grill and it would be done professionally.

I didn't have very good luck with the work my Line-X shop did. Overspray here and there, inconsistent pattern and texture, a broken flat fender and missing seat bolts. The owner of the shop took no responsibility until I showed pics of my rig parked on the street in front of his shop right before I dropped it off. I'm glad I took so many pics!
So when people talk about a couple of dollars savings, it rarely works out that way. I bought the Raptor liner kit and coated my grill and bumpers. The results were much better than the work Line-X did and that stuff is damn tough too

A gallon will cover the grill, fenders, and possibly the hardtop with one coat. Line X wanted 540 for just the hardtop and $60 per fender. With the spray gun I used it looks professionally done. I have been to local dealers of line x and scorpion. You are paying for the preparation, time, and cost of franchising for line x or scorpion or whatever. The process of application is different and unique with Line X. The durability may be best, that is up for debate. Its what you feel comfortable with. I don't mind paying extra for some JK mods but for this one I am happy with the outcome. I will post pics once I complete more projects with it.
