Default Little Concerned

Hi guys, well I am getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on a lift. I had narrowed it down to pretty much 3 different lift kits. Teraflex 2.5" coil lift, OME lift kit, or AEV 3.5 lift. The first two I have started questioning a little and would like to get some more feedback from other forum members. I'm questioning them because there is another very recent thread in here where people are having shake/wobble problems. I don't want to spend all that money and not enjoy the end result. I absolutely love my Jeep right now and don't want to go in the other direction as far as enjoying to drive it. It is a daily driver and I wheel every once in awhile. If I got the Tera or OME lift I was going to add the JKS adjustable track bars, and then down the road add the control arms or maybe the AEV brackets. I haven't seen any complaints on the AEV lift, so I am starting to wonder if I should just save a little more cash and get that kit instead. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I know I like many many people love the Tera 2.5 coil. But understand when you touch the Jeep there is always a chance of a Death Wobble. Could it happen, yes, but the chances are still slim (yes it does happen). I would say the chance of a DW would be the same from all three.

x2 on the TF 2.5 coil lift but I'd recommend the kit with shocks not the shock extensions. I find my Rubi shocks with the extensions rides a little stiffer than I'd like. But all in all a great kit!

Yeah, I hear ya. Those little death wobbles just love OME and TF lifts!!

The AEV comes with Cam Bolts to adjust the caster. If you are getting adjustable arms, you might consider not installing them.

i think i just got done reading the same thread that you did about the suspension lift and DW. It too is scaring the hell out of me, but i also agree that you could get it from any lift not doing the proper alignment checks. Im leaning toward the OME, but dont have any prior experience with it.

I put a 3.25 inch lift on my baby and no problems after the install. The steering wheel didn't even move from center. It took about 2 1/2 hours to install and I was good to go.
Not to mention the customer service, it was on deck when I called about a leaking shock. The fella on the phone just said no prob and sent me one front and one rear. If I had to do it all over again I would stick with them for sure.

happy hunting. Either way you go your JK will look sick!

I would recommend doing the Teraflex 3" and eventually going long arm with it. I test drove a JK with that setup and it was amazing.

The reason you hear so much about the Teraflex and OMe lifts is because they are all within people's budgets. You don't here that much about the AEV because it's way expensive. Because not as many people have the kit means there won't be as much feedback on it.

Although OME and Tera are very good, i ended up going with Rock Krawler Suspension.

Follow all the tips and directions given to you, and make sure you tighten everything down to specs and get your alignment set, steering corrected, tires balanced, and track bars set right and that should be all you need. Geometry is our friend. Thats what Rock Krawler says, "correcting the suspension geometry is the first thing one should do after lifting a vehicle" or something of that sort.

Also keep in mind that you can beat yourself up when choosing a lift while reading posts hear because you get everyones horror stories with it. Like a previous post said, while DW is possible it is unlikely if you instlall right. but it is equally possible on any lift.

Not to muddy the waters anymore, but you might also want to check out the new Rock Krawler 2.5" kits. I don't have any real experience with any of them, but I (like you) have been reading a lot trying to figure out which one I want to go with.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but don't you have to drill out the arm mounts in order to install these? If, so it's hard to "repair" that hole if you want to do with a different control arm setup in the future, correct?

I have a 3" Teraflex kit and have NO DEATH WOBBLE ISSUES. and I currently DO NOT HAVE a steering stabilizer installed. No shakes shimmies or wobbles, zip, zero, nada. I have a brand new steering stabilizer to install, i just havent gotten to it as frankly, it isnt on my top 5 list of things that need doing because it rides just fine without it.

It is ALL about install as stated, NOT the name on the box. I had more, WAY more shakes and wobbles on my 2" budget boost than i do now. I have adjustable arms that helped me get it dialed in and it is spot on. And has stayed that way.
