Locker modifications
I was told that there was a switch or bypass of some kind out there that would allow the use of the factory lockers other than in low range under 10 mph. Anybody else heard of this?
I was going to give you some grief for not searching, but I thought I'd give it a try first. The search function here is no fun at all. I can't figure though why you didn't think of bofer84 yourself.
I actually did this today. I could only get the front locker to engage though, but Im sure thats just a problem specific to me.

I have frequently had better luck using google to search the site.
In Google search box put site:www.jk-forum.com (then your search)
It will give you the google search results limited to this site.
Note: its only good for pages more than a few days old.

I'm not sure it is a good idea (unless you really need that capability and so far I havent'). It seems that some people have had bad lockers, and I can get you anything that Chrysler wouldn't warranty them if they discovered the electronics were tampered with.

necessary mod IMHO. I am not sure why DC limited us to low range for everything. It is the only reason I question if I should have gotten an X instead of a Rubi. Any other locker would let you use it anytime. I was playing in the snow and saw where a little more wheel spin may be beneficial.
I know I saw the thread for it on here although I found it through google.

Word of advice, if when you do this modification and it doesnt work even though you know you got the wiring right, check the fuses. The fuse for my rear locker wasnt seated all the way which is why my switch wouldnt work.
I have perfromed this modification to assist in snow & ice using 4wd high. It should NOT be used under any circumstances on dry pavement! Even on gravel roads steering is difficult.
I'm sure if some numb-nut were to lock 'em up and crank the steering to full-turn it might snap an axle shaft or knuckle. I have had NO trouble with this so far.
But that's why DC had to put it in 4Low only. To protect us from....ourselves ;-P
I've noticed that after this installation the locker lights (front & rear) blink as if their not fully locked in - continuously. This is fine with me. As it reminds me to switch them off as soon as possible.
