Default Locker mods

Looking to do the locker mods on my 08 Rubicon. I would like to use them anytime I want and not just in 4L.
Thoughts and info would be greatly appreciated.
I've seen a few different ways of going about this.
Thanks in advance.

Just be mindful of where you mount your switches, I did the mod where you ground out the relays next to the battery with a switch wired to ground. Works great! Mounted the switches down low on the dash below my left knee. Everything was going smooth until I bought a different pair of cowboy boots, about two inches shorter (which made the top of the boot line up just right with the switches when coming off of the clutch), ALMOST engaged both lockers doing 75 on the interstate. Now I'm working on figuring out how to relocate my switches and what to do with the two holes in my dash.

What would be the reasoning for doing this mod?

You can use the lockers in 4 hi or the rear in 2 hi. Also, you can operate the lockers in any combo, whereas stock the rear has to be engaged first to get the front and you can't run just the front (which can be very helpful on a challenging obstacle).

What the hell.....? I just bought a 2009 Rubi and I didn't know you couldn't run the front alone. Damn. I had a auto locker in the front on my old TJ and I loved what it did for me off-road.
Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info.
Even the aftermarket ARB setup has a compressor that is wired that way. Apparently it is to prevent careless people from engaging the front locker while cruising down the road. That could be messy... Although, you have to be in 4 lo with the JK, so I don't see the need to prevent someone from operating them independently.

Thanks for the info. That's the mod I was thinking of going with.
I will keep in mind to locate my switchs high enough to be out of the way.
Any tips on doing the mod other than fallowing the the diagram that I found.

Nah not really, most of the helpful tips have been hashed out quite a bit, as I'm sure you have seen. Its pretty strait forward. Take your time putting it together, pick out some switches you like the look of, and have fun!

Happy Jeeping!

[EDIT] I did find a straightened out metal coat hanger really helpful to get the wires through the spray foam insulation in the hole in the firewall.

Check out my write-up in my signature. It may help you a bit (should be the same setup). I bought a kit that had the wires and switches already, but it is the same concept when purchasing your own materials.

I will also add that 2 wheel high range with the rear locker at the sand dunes is a BLAST. An ESP kill-switch (in my signature also) will most likely be needed though too.
