I'd go rear first for most stuff weight on rocks and climbs is back so it has pressure down versus front sliding....if given the opportunity go both there's been times when even both lockers and 6psi in the tires'wouldnt get me through....lol but the lockers got me there and it was fun....

You don't have to do both....search and find out what your use would dictate as a better choice for you...

If you plan on doing lots of mud id recomend the rear because u dont want to be steering to much with the front lockers on. Id vote for both

Here in manitoba we for either nasty muck or sand... When i went wheelin last time i got stuck in nasty clay and my rear end locked and almost snugged me out but my front end burried on the one side wouldnt let me out.. Im thinking if i could get a rubicon locker id be happy with the push button but at the moment im looking at the ARB 373 locker

So you have a rear factory limited? With clutches? That wear out?

Do you need a locker? Or just feel like spending some money? If you don't crawl, a pair of TrueTracs may be pretty hard to beat! If you want lockers and only do one, rear gets my vote. Though replacing the front spiders may not be a bad idea... (Personally, I would not dump a grand, plus labor, into a front d30 selectable. Truetrac or lunchbox, then throw it away when it breaks.)

The folks at Dynatrac posted a decent overview a while back:

I think it would be a good step forward. I was shocked how guys with lockers were just plowing threw everything and i just figured down the road it would be a good idea.. A grand sure is alot but my lift alone is $1300. I just wanted to do it right te first time around is all

If doing lockers also think about your gears, it's much cheaper to pay to do them together. Yes lockers have an advantage, but also bring more stress to your stock front axles. the below happened with the front locked, trying to climb a curved trail up a rutted muddy hill, slipped off a ridge into the rut with the wheels turned slightly and got instant traction, causing "pop-goes-the-weasel".
