Front if you don't have a rubi. Reason being is the rear is a Limited slip which will hold its own, where as the front is open on the non rubi.

I run an Aussie locker in my front 30 and rear 44 is factory. Haven't needed to lock up the rear yet and doubt I will. If you have an auto, there is a dance you can do when your stuck to better engage the LSD. It consist of throttle/brake back and forth and you will begin to move.

I may be wrong, but I do not think all rear have LSD from the factory. I am sure you will get a lot of opinions on this of which mine is only one. You should find our it you have a LSD in the rear, I checked your profile and think you have a sport so it should have a D30 in the front. You might be better off going with a locker in the rear. It should be able to take more abuse without breaking. It seems that a lot of people who add lockers to the D30 end up adding a lot more parts (axles, sleeves, etc.) to make it hold up. I also have an unlimited sport and have been thinking this through for a while. I need funds, but will probably start with the rear.

In theory front will provide most traction with the weight of the engine above it

Not all jeep have limited slip there for you want to lock up the rear. limited slip in an x or Sahara is an extra you have to look at the invoice.

1 more vote for rear, because I usually only need to lock on steep ascents, but this is Colorado.

Thanks!! I do have a D30 in front and D44 in rear. 3:73 gears. I'm leaning toward the Rear. Then a Tera44 for the front next.

Definetly REAR usually when you need a locker you are climbing & that loads up the rear end .
