Default lockers

I have a 07 sahars 2dr and am thinking about adding lockers a few questions.

1. Best brand for the money dont realky need top of the line but want durable stuff

2. Front or rear

3. How hard is it to install or would i be best having a shop do the work?

Only mild offroading in jeep, have 2.5 budget boost and adding 33"s soon

Start with your actual needs now, and consider what you expect you may need in the future. Then decide what type of traction device you want, or can live with. And the budget you want, or can live with.

If you can't set up gears, you will probably want to either go with a lunchbox locker (explained a bit more in the writeup, should be self-installable in your driveway/garage), or have a tech install them.

Front or rear is a personal choice, and you will get opinions on both sides. My opinion is to do the rear first if you only do one. It is a D44 with bigger d44 gears (assuming yours isn't a very early '07? Some came with d35 rears), as opposed to a d30 with smaller d30 gears. And you are most likely to need the added traction when going uphill, which puts more weight on the rear tires instead of adding traction to the tires with no weight on them.

For brands, Aussie is the most popular lunchbox, Detroit Truetrac is a great limited slip (for your stated usage, this could be all you'll ever need), Detroit locker is the most popular auto-locker, and ARB is arguably the best selectable. Pricing follows that same order, from lowest to highest. Roughly $250-$300 lunchbox, $375-$450 truetrac, $600-$700 detroit, $900+ arb (which will also need an air source)
