Lockers? Gears?
I have a 2010 Sport and eventually i plan to move from 33's to 35's, I want to Run 4.88's and i have a 6 speed btw. Will my 4.88's be okay on my 33's for a year or two?
Should i add lockers and how much will they cost? I mostly wheel the beach and maybe offroad 1-2 times a month, nothing huge since im a daily driver and its a brand new vehicle.
Does any one rocomend gears or lockers brands?
Last question My jeep has 800 miles on it, does that mean all i will need for gears is the ring and pinion?
A friends of mine has done tons of re gearing and is gonna do it for me.

I'm going through somewhat of the same decision process... I want to run 33's for a while until the jeep gets older and i possibly have something else as a DD, but only regear once.
From most of what I have read, a 4.88 is low for 33's, but then there are some that say at 35's a 4.88 is minimal. It seems like its right in the middle of both...

whats the price diference in selectable and non selectable? Whats the quality difference? I dont off road too much so i doubt ill need them that often but im sure there nice to have, i want my jeep to be capable if that makes sense
Prices for a detroit 300-400. ARB is about 800. Wouldn't say much of a quality different. Detroit s are bullet proof and ARB are also high quality. The question for you is do you want to drive with your axel always locked?
okay so the non selectables lock your axl at all times? and the selectables only lock them when they are needed?
What are the downsides to this?
Im guessing turning will mess up your tires? any other downsides to this?

You are correct.
I put ARB in the front/rear of mine. This way they are open when on road and I will never notice they are there. Mine run off of compressed air (which ARB has a special right now if you buy their lockers you get a free compressor). When I need my lockers I simply turn on the compressor and flip the switch for which locker I want.
If you are always locked then your tires won't be able to compensate for turns while they are in gear.
If you get an Aussie locker (another lunchbox type) then they will actually take turns a little better than Detroits. The Aussie is an auto locker that will allow itself in a sense to disengage when you are making turns on the road, but when you are off-road will always be engaged.
Disadvantage is that it will wear down your tires a lot faster...you should see my buddy's tires....he welded his spider gears so he is hard locked at all times. He's beyond the wear marks

I really like the Aussie lockers price! and you said they disengage when making turns? Will the aussies wear down my tire very badly and make my driving that much worse? If i had the money i would def get the ARB's, but are aussies a waist of money, should i get them in the front a rear or just one?
Confused about what to do? Will turning be like skidding with aussies?
Aussie doesn't make a locker for the D44 so you can't put one in the rear. Up front it only engages when in 4WD so it has great road manners. It's not good on roads in icy conditions so if you get a lot of ice it's not for you. If you want to do the rear also I would recommend either a selectable or a LSD. If the Jeep is you're DD then you don't want a lunchbox locker in the rear. For most people the Aussie in the Front and a Detroit True-Trac (LSD) rear is all you'll ever need, this is what I'll be doing to mine. If money is no issue then go with the ARB.
