Default Locking the front

So I'm planning on getting a set of lockers in my 10' 2 door. I'm going with a AL in the rear but I'm undecided in the front. I would like a SL but I don't think my wallet or my gf will like it as much as I would. So I'm thinking about a LS which would be ok. But my question is how well would a AL work in the front.( that in mind I live in western PA where I use my 4wd about 4+ times a winter on the road.) So any suggestions from the jeep gods on here. Please help.

Assuming AL is auto locker and SL is selectable, I would think you would want the auto in the front, not the rear. Likewise, the selectable should go in the rear.

This is because the auto up front will only engage when in 4wd. In the rear, the auto might make DD not as nice.

I don't have anything in the rear right now like the trac loc option. So your suggestion putting a auto up front and a limited slip in the rear? I'm curious on how a auto would be in 4wd on the road up front. I can see that not being very pleasant.

If you're only using four wheel drive that much, what's wrong with the factory traction control?

I've install lockers on front diffs of a few of my trucks and they all pull one way or the other due to the front wheel being always locked.... Even in 2wd. I understand why u want them tho, I usually run an Eaton auto lockers... LOVE EM! Now I got a rubi so I got factory e lockers

I can deal with ride problems. And my jeep will be paid off in the next couple years so as soon as its paid off its becoming a play toy not my DD. Would I be better off just putting a limited slip up front now and locking it later or just say screw it and do it now?

You are going to pay for labor twice?? I would save and get it done right the first time.

I ain't paying for labor. Well maybe a bar tab but that's it. A good friend of mine can do it so that's not an issue.

You can get a selectable locker for only $150-250 more than what you're going to pay for for that limited slip (depending on your gear ratio). For me, the little extra cash when you're already spending $400+ for a limited slip is a no brainer, plus you're only doing it once. Your friend will thank you since he won't have to set your gears back up again twice. Plus with a decent compressor, you've got free air ups on your tires at the end of the day.

Cheapest selectable ice found was 700-900. Where can I find one for 600 if I can find one that cheap ill go with a selectable.
