LOD Bumper - installed and reviewed!
There’s good news and bad news with this bumper. The bad news? The bad news is for the other bumper manufacturers. There is also bad news because your jeeping friends will be so jealous, they may try to steal it. Don’t be surprised to wake one day, only to find it missing.
The good news is this is one of the nicest bumpers I’ve ever seen with some really awesome features and top-notch quality.
First, Ill start with the basics – fit and finish. Whoever welded this bumper did one of the nicest welding jobs I’ve ever seen. In fact, it looks like a robot welded it. The powder coating is thick and tough. And the fit is outstanding. The tolerances are so tight it leaves me thinking it was milled from a solid block. In fact, if it weren’t for the welds, this might be believable.
The spare tire carrier is fantastic. It is stout, doesn’t rattle and fully adjustable. The provided hardware is all high-grade zinc that won’t rust. This is a hugely important feature. There is a ¼” zirk fitting that allows you to grease the large bushings on which is rotates. Be sure to clear it out, however, before installing it. I had some residual metal chips left over from where they were milled.
The feature I like best about this bumper and what I think most people will buy it for is the awesome 55 watt halogen back up lights that are recessed. The lenses have a scattering pattern in the center to diffuse the light and making them fog lamps. Unfortunately, I am too sick to take beamshot photos for you. When I feel better, I will take and post them.
I am totally impressed with everything about this bumper – it is well worth the money spent!

Very nice.. I really enjoy your thorough commentary on your choices. The write up's have been very useful to me. Hope you feel better soon.
Enjoy the ride!
BTW... Great respect... I see the Sheriff car in the pic. Thank you for your services.

Yeah - being sick sucks. I was supposed to have the Jeep on display at a show next week, but I won't be making it. Thanks for the thanks - it means a lot but I do it for self gratification.
Very nice.
This would definitely go with my LOD Signature Series shorty bumper.
If you do an install write-up, link it to my LOD Signature Series front bumper install. We can keep them together.
If not, I'll do one when I finally order it...lol
Off topic......If you don't mind, Once you get your spare 35 on there, measure your height to the bottom of the bumper, right above the 4 tires.
I'm considering the LA and I'd like to know the difference in our heights....Thanks

Nice Jeep. I also enjoyed the palm trees and weather. What a life? Makes me woder what I am doing in New Jersey. By the way that rig would probably not be legal in NJ... uncovered rear lights and uncovered front fog lights above bumper level. I am still trying to figure out if 37s on 4 inches passes the high rise inspection... flex joints... etc.

What are the laws as far as lift and tires there? It's strange to think other states restrict this - I know a guy with an F350 and 54" michelins that he drives around with. Of course, then we have the "Donks" - the old 1970's and 1980's Chevy cars that are worth about $100 but people put 30" rims on them that cost $15k.
