Do you have a picture of your tire carrier that illustrates the brackets and the hi-lift for the mechanically challenged???

here's a close up shot with the tire carrier slightly opened....

when closed, the bracket will push on the isolator and squash it down.

I love this carrier and bumper.....Looking at buying one.....Is the install on one of these pretty easy?? I read in past threads that the directions kind of sucked. Have they redone them to make it a fairly easy install??? Thanks

Funtimes -

I was a piece of cake to install. Did it all with handtools in the driveway. Hardest part was lifting it into place by myself. Used a floor jack to get it "near" position, and then muscled it into place.

Just installed mine this weekend, wasn't bad at all, one of the holes needed to be opened up a tad on the bumper and I had to purchase grade 8 hardware but it does look great and the tire carrier is good too.

One question I did have is torque specs. I tightened the factory bolts in the frame to 50 ft-lbs. The ones behind the hitch inside the bumper I tightened to 40 and the rest that go all the way through the cross member and frame I tightened to 35ft-lbs. I would have gone farther but the holes the washers rest against are large and I started to deform the cross member and washers so I didn't want to push it. I figure if the steel is deforming it is tight enough, not to mention there are 12 grade 8 bolts holding this thing in place. I hope those torque specs are sufficient for light towing and an occasional recovery. The other option is to weld it like one of the members on here did

I know, I worry too much.

I was wondering about torque specs also.
