Long arm necessary for a 4 door
I think it depends on your budget.
I run a 3" TF with flex arms and it wheels great. Long arm will give you better(close to stock arm angles) which will give you a great on road ride and good articulation off road although you will loose some ground clearance with the longer arms.
Id love to go long arm to give my DD the best on road ride but it is deff more $$

I can only give you my personal experience on this. But I run a 4" Full Traction short arm lift with 37" tires. This set up has worked well for me, but I am working on saving up for the long arm upgrade. Only had this set up for a less than a year, but definitely look long arm if you want the most out of on road and off road driving.
Just my 2¢

Teraflex is far from crap, they always answer the phone, they always take care of problems that may arise, there parts last and are tested on and off road, they will physically sit on the phone with you and wall you thorough the installation. It really comes down to a whole LOT more than where things are made. And the last time I checked there were plenty of shitty "American Made" products out there.
I have a new unlimited. I did the TF budget boost with shock extensions. I just added a bumper winch, tire carrier and some armor. I'm thinking about going with a 37 down the road. I now have 35's.
With all the added weight.
I want a larger lift and I'm thinking about a long arm. People tell me that you really don't need to. People say the stock arms are long and no need to do this. What have you other guys done?
Thanks for any info!

On a side note: TeraFlex is another Y-Link free suspension brand.

There is also BDS long arm . I have the 4" long arm on a 2 dr and it is great. It is a little cheaper then the others out there. They are all good if you take care of up with regular maintenance .
not trying to start a made in usa vs made in china fight. All im saying is that if I can purchase something from the states that puts food into americans mouth I steer that way. Teraflex make great products but so do the other companies. To the op, you can go from mild to wild as you may know searcing this site, it all depends on how much you are willing to spend. You can get away with doing minimal upgrades and wheel with the best of them or spend some major dough and accomplish the same thing. Its up to you. enjoy!
guess you didnt read my last post..... If i can buy american i do, sometimes i dont because it just doesnt work out that way. This country is falling deeper into a black hole because we dont make anything here anymore, so if i can help by buying a car here or a part there that is american i believe it helps. In my line of work the u.s. not building or manufacturing anything hurts me, so if i can help a company based out of the u.s. that makes things here I DO....... Greed will be the undoing of this great nation, no one cares if you make it by or not, u fail and they get someone else to buy their crap product that costs a buck to make that they are selling for 100.
again not a shot at teraflex just looking to support parts made in the usa

interesting reading here. 3 years ago when I was looking to do my lift, etc. This same question was asked about short or long arm. Back then most all reading and advice was it didn't matter because my bump stops and shocks were gonna determine my max flex. I started off with Teraflex shortty arms and still have them (rebuilt now) on my lowers and new "other brand" uppers. With my AEV 3 1/2" premium lift my ride is stellar stable and 3 years worthy. Therefore my short arm has served this DD well that also rock crawls (articulation) the crap out of it each year all over the country.
