Default Long Tube Headers

I am looking at OBX Long Tube Headers off eBay. I am wondering if anybody has tried a set? Also a thing to notice is that it has no cats with the kit. Do I need cats? If I do could I just run one after the Y pipe.

They look pretty nice but I've never heard if them. How do you tune the computer for these?

The Ripp headers kit comes with a custom computer tune. They are considerably more expensive but have proven dyno results and no emmisions problems.

They look awesome and at only $400, but I agree with LidLess07x never heard of them. Looks like it eliminates the cats as it states "off road" use only, so depending on state to state emission laws may not pass. But they do have a limited life time warranty, so that's a plus. 👍

I have the Ripp headers and they are great, but just to be clear, they don't come with a custom tune for headers only. I was quite disappointed when I found that out. I even have the Ripp version of the Diablosport Predator.

The OBX headers look nice. I have heard the quality is decent for Mustang applications. With no catalytic converters, I would think a real custom tune will be required. So you will probably have to add the price of a tuner and $300-$500 for a quality custom tune to take advantage of the headers.

The headache of getting rid of the cats isn't worth it in my opinion. I have Borla long tubes which are the over priced version of what you are looking at. You can have a Diablo tuner try to turn off the cat inefficiency codes but they will still pop up periodically. On top of that these motors like back pressure so I actually lost 10 whp when I put the Borlas on...

You can always just add a couple of high flow cats from magnaflo. They are about $100 each and you just have to get some o2 sensor bungs welded in the pipes to make the electronics work.

Thats what I was thinking. Do I need two cats? or could I just run one after the "Y" pipe.

You would need one on each side so you can have a sensors on the up stream and down stream to avoid engine lights.
