Default Long vs. mid arm lift

What is the differences between long arm and mid arm lifts and advantages on a JKU ??? Is it the ride or wheel travel ????

Ride more so. Mid arm imo is more so said as they have longer arms than tjs.

Truth right here. I see it as a marketing ploy more than anything. Saying you upgraded to a mid arm lift from a short arm sounds better. In reality, they just give you a couple extra inches to adjust for caster/ pinion angles.

Mainly for the ride. Really no such thing as a mid arm on a JK. Your shocks and bump stops are what limit your wheel travel, and the short arms will basically travel as much as the long arms on a JK.

Mid arm is a marketing term made up by RK to make you think you are getting something you are not. Search long arms and you will see what the benefits and drawbacks are. Lots of threads out there on the subject.

Actually the mid arm rock krawler kits use control arms that are about 1" longer than stock. Not a marketing term.

The rear lower is 1" longer in the x-factor kit. Any adjustable arm on the market for a JK has the ability to be the same length as a stock arm or slightly longer. The 1" extension does not change the category of arm style (mid-arm, which the stock JK arm already is). It is marketing BS. Not only that, but for anyone that can understand even basic suspension geometry, it is clear that the only thing the 1" extension does is to create issues.

You bought a RK lift, didn't you

My guess is they need to be about 1 inch longer due to height lifted .. I did not do the math to check... As invest said an extra inch wont be much better , and if you think it will id hope you girl dont feel the same....

I did. And I love it. Rock krawler has the best lift on the market. Period. I can run 37's and not have to trim the body tub like you have to on every other lift kit on the market. Having the 1" longer control arm solved many issues. Never created new ones. Just because you have adjustable arms doesn't mean you can run the joint all the way out to make them longer. Won't have enough thread engagement in the arm itself.
