Lookin for ideas
So I was sitting here thinking, Hmm XMAN has no idea what I even want to be able to do with my jeep. I looked at RockKrawler, TeraFlex, Full Traction and saw some really great stuff, in time I will be able to get this jeep set up the way I want it and use it for what I intend. Here is what I have rattling around in my head.
Where I live there is opportunity to do anything you can think of with a Jeep. Im not much into the rock crawler scene though. I am looking at buliding a jeep that will be good for the slow trails and some of the twisty twisty stuff, but there is also a ton of open desert here so I would like to be able to run the higher speed trails/roads as well. I don't want to go bigger than a 33' (35's if I have too), I am trying to keep weight down to maximize the "lil 3.8 that could" without destroying it. I really like the 3'-4' long arm systems that are available, but Im not sure if thats what I need for what I want to get accomplished. I have been looking into the Superchips Flashpaq and a couple different Air Induction kits as well.
I am going to install the Grade 8 bolt pack I bought from Northridge4x4 and "Hopefully" that cures my death wobble until I can afford to make further more drastic changes. (I will be tightening anything I can reach as well) I have been following "TheonlyREDhead 2008 Fender trim " thread and plan on doing this as well. I am on a pretty tight budget, so I don't mind cutting up some plastic to get a great look at a price I can afford. (Time and Effort) The Jeep is a DD too, but Im not worried about that, if the suspension system is strong than its just a matter of maintaining things. I had a 98 GMC Sierra that was pretty modded out, but it saw very deep mud holes extremely rough terrain in North Carolina and a had me driving. (I beat the
outta that thing) I plan on givin the Jeep a good run, but I plan on being much easier on it. (within reason.) Let me know what you think, I am open to all opinions and/or suggestions.. Thanks!!

Take a look at the Teraflex PreRunner kit. You can easily fit 35" tires. The PreRunner was designed for higher speed driving in the desert, but will still provide lots of articulation for the rocks.

Jeep's weren't made for Baja style driving due to their short wheel base, so that is pretty much the only kit catered for that.
Here are some videos Teraflex made for their Prerunner kit [watch them in order]. Just ask yourself if you really want to drive fast in a lifted short wheel base vehicle off-road.

I do the same type of wheeling with my jeep.
I hit the So Cal dunes cause I'm from Yuma, AZ grew up in prerunners and love bombing through the desert. I now live in CO and frequent Moab.
I ultimately want the Offroad Evolution Double Throwdown system but couldn't swing it quite yet. So, I went with the RK 3.5" mid arm flex system because I felt I could beat on it and keep the majority of it when I could get my EVO.
Rock Krawler also has a great video review of this kit on the web.
The TF kit looked nice too but dayum it was up there with EVO minus coilovers.
Your choice is a tough one my friend, good luck!

Even though there was that lil incident I would still love to follow through with this. You really need to factor in exactly where they were haulin A+ to get into their little situation. They put themselves into a position where there was nowhere for them to go. The only difference between these guys and the other guys is that they are doing what I want to do... Go fast!! , BUT the very same thing can happen during a rock crawling session if you make a mistake. Roll overs happen, that why we have specific stickers for those situations...

There is risk in everything we do. I sure as hell ain't gonna live life in a plastic bubble!
I bought my Jeep to use it as the Jeep name was intended to be used.
Make sure you post pics of you mobbin' through the dez. I know I will!
