Default Looking for a Lift... Dont know where to start

Ok I am looking for a lift enough to fit 35"s on the jk with enough flex to do a little crawling... however... I do not want to change the driveshafts if need be.... I was looking for a 3.5" or possibly 3"... if I cant do that I would love to push a 4-5" long arm and just change the driveshafts.... Whats the best lift in your opinions? Pros-- and Cons--- plus what is the best lift kit in totality (i.e. including driveshafts, angle adjustments, and stabilizer stuff lol) as you can tell I am a jk newbie.... (give me an 89' mustang 5.0 I can tear it apart and put it together lol but jeeps are a different and much cooler story)

Im really excited about the new rockcrawler kits. They give clearance for 35's and take away the nose down rake we have. Which means that with a bumper and winch itll look stock. Increased articulation with the new springs as well if you want to crawl.

Having a two door automatic, you will have to address your drive shafts with anything more then 2.5+" of lift. You should know when these Kits say they give "2" or "3" inches of lift, this is actually incorrect, as they usually provide up to an inch or two extra if you are not adding any heavy armor or bumpers.

Best lift will be very subjective on the forums. But if you do not want to address drive shafts, a highly respected kit is the TeraFlex 2.5" BB. Lot of forum members rep it and have no problems with it. Keep in mind, a few have broken there drive shafts with that kit.

I just put on the Trail Master kit. It's got absolutely everything(including drive shafts) for less than $1,800. It's a pretty big job if you've never worked on your jeep before, but worth it in the end.

Quadratec page

Northridge4x4 page

And there's also a thread where I comment and ramble on for a few pages.

Anything over 2.5-3" on a 2 door you need to start worrying about your rear driveline, You can fit 35's with a 2"bb and some trimming and longer bump stops.

its a really big difference between the shortarms and long arms, so you should decide on your budget then figure out what you can afford.

I can tell you from experience, you will want to go bigger after a short time. You might as well save money and go with long arms and the tire size you want. plus long arms make the two door ride alot nicer. Check out my profile pictures for a two door on a 3" long arm and 37's. Plus long

we have an awesome 3" short arm kit, completely maintenance free. it comes with everything you need to properly lift the two door. (Minus shocks and drivelines). check out the premium plus link in my sig or Send me a pm and I'll be happy to send you my number so we can talk over lifts.

For a 2 door, you want to stay with a 3" or under lift to keep your stock shafts. The Teraflex 2.5" coil spring lift will clear the 35's (with some wheel spacers) and you won't need to get too much else as far as changing out the major drivetrain parts. If you want extra clearance, you can either trim your fenders or get some Bushwacker Flat fenders for a little more room. That is about the cheapest and easiest way to get 35's under a JK with no rubbing.

Once you narrow it down to your three finalists. Give each of them a call and ask some questions. I have found the companies I have called to be helpful and you may get a sense of there customer service. Doing home work now may save you some $$$ down the road.
