Looking at new bumper, loop or stinger??
Im looking at new front bumpers, looking for feedback on hoop or stinger
What is the big benefit of stinger? Does it obscure view or ever come close to dinging vehicle in front of you in traffic incidents?
I guess I'm over thinking it, stinger looks cool, just trying to understand benefits

I've been wondering the same thing for quite a while as I try to gather some funds for a front bumper.
In very isolated circumstances you could argue that the stinger could help in a very steep forward situation; one YouTube video shows a stinger keeping a JK from rolling over forward.
That said, it seems to me, as a non-owner, that the main point of a stinger is an intimidating and badass appearance.
If anything it might make mounting lights harder because of the angles on the tube; at least with a hoop you could mount lights whereever you wanted.
Again, my $0.02 as a non-owner.

I like the mad max aspect of the stinger, just trying to see if anyone has any reasons against stinger...

As far as traffic and parking it....
In parking lots it's a bonus to have the stinger... before I was always guessing how much farther I could or couldn't move up to the next vehicle now with the stinger there it lets me know exactly where I stand.... Plus looks cool IMO
SORRY not the best pics from my iPhone

I've read/heard the main reason is, as you mentioned, to help if you roll forward. If you tip forward going down a hill, it will bounce you back.
I'm conflicted about whether or not to get a stinger myself. I'm big on functionality and the tip prevention is a big factor. However, I like a subtle look and there's nothing subtle about a stinger.

Stinger all the way. It doesn't obstruct driving view at all. I own a Smittybilt stubby with the stinger. Only pops up over the hood about 6 inches. Stingers look wicked.
It'll also deflect wildlife downward while driving on the highway, or in my case living in Canada, help go through a moose.
