Default Looking for something better than soft doors...

Like most of us on this forum, I've been anticipating with anxiousness the release of the JK soft doors by Bestop. Now that they are release, I'm not even sure I'll buy them:

-$450 is a lot of money to drop on doors (not that I think they aren't worth the money, just that I can think of better uses)

-They don't seem to quite fit the application I had in mind. So, this is where you guys could help me...

I was looking for something to block the rain from entering the Jeep when you have the doors off, not a real door with functional locks and everything. Mainly, I would need something that can be stored with the back windows when they are rolled up in the trunk. I was thinking of some sort of canvas with a plastic opening for a window but without a whole door frame assembly that would seem bulky and cumbersome. The bottom line is I'm looking for something that uses the same principle as the windjammer (tensioned fabric held in place by hooking it up on the roll cage or something).

Again, I never had soft doors before and I may be wrong. Can anyone chime in on the practical day to day use of the soft doors for the JK or let me in on a concept they have been working on for a prototype like I am working on?

There was a time when soft doors were the only doors you could get.

duct tape and a clear garbage bag, that should be able to keep the rain out.

But duct tape is so..........tacky!

What about an emergency top? Only useful when parked, but keeps the rain out.

I wonder how long before the prices will drop into a reasonable range.

Yes, they work w/ the Sunrider. That's what I have. I doubt prices will drop much, if any. They're about the same price as the ones for TJ's and YJ's.

They will definately come down in price. Exactly 3 months after I order them. At least that's what happens with every modification I do to any of my vehicles.
