Default Loose tie rod

My tie rod has a lot of movement. I can shake the whole thing by hand. There is also a clunk sound over bumps. Im assuming its the tie rod. I have no wobble and everything else is good.
Should I just replace it or is there something else I can do to fix it?

Its up and down too. A lot of play. Is that ok? Still cant figure out where this clunking is coming from.

It shouldn't move up and down. If if comes off, thats dangerous. Are the bolts on tight?

Ask someone to Jump on the bumper and shake side to side violently while you inspect for clunk under the jeep.

Common clunk come from loose sway bar links

Ive tried that with no luck. Sounds like its on the drivers side only. I just torqued everything in the front this afternoon when I put on new coils. The sounds been going on for a few weeks now.

Does it happen only on sharp-turn? If yes, check for worn axle u-joint

No sounds when turning. Only up and down.
And I have to correct myself on a previous post, there's only rotational movement in tie rod.
I guess the subject has changed. Could it be the joint at the end of the tie rod?

As a result of a few cases of DW after my lift I have the same sound as I go over bumps. I just replaced the entire tie rod assy. w HD parts but still have the noise.

There is also a tie rod on your drag link at the pitman. My replacement drag link end will be here in the next day or two and hopefully thats it.

Check your drag link.
