The addition of a snorkel to your rig is not for the benefit of increased horsepower, rather to relocate your air filter up high to avoid ingesting water into the engine. That being said, a long, less direct route to the throttle body will effect velocity and may result in a slight decrease in power.

I have to wonder how many of you guys with snorkels are ACTUALLY fording water up to your headlights? 2%?

The snorkel issue had been thoroughly discussed. Right now, there's a thread here - https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...4/#post4040145 .
Read it...

snorkels are good for more than just water fording.
In hot regions, snorkels are more than justified even without ever fording water, and even if there's no dense dust.

With ambient temp' of, say, 40 Celsius, at relatively slow speeds, the temp' under the hood gets to at least 70 Celsius.
A snorkel will supply 30 or more degrees cooler air to the engine. That's meaningful.

Everything has been discussed here already and I don't have the time to fish through the onslaught of BS in that thread amongst the opinions. You read it. But I'm still betting 2% of those that have them, actually NEED them regardless of the purpose it serves.

I'd also bet those rigs in that same climate you describe do juuuust fine without an ugly hunk of plastic sticking out of perfectly good sheet metal We aren't "racing" them.

The post above includes misinformation.
However, the rude, arrogant and bashing attitude of the post gives me no reason to reply the specific points.
