Default Loud popping or rattle in 4wd

Hi guys,

In need of a little help. When I put my Jeep in 4wd it makes a loud almost like popping sound or like something is grabbing in the front to middle of the drivetrain. It's worse in 4 low than it is in 4 high. In 2wd you can't really hear it unless the windows are down and drive a a very low speed. Seems to be a little worse when I turn in 4wd. It's seems to be near the front driveshaft or transfer case, but not sure if either of these may cause this sound. Will take any advice given. Oh and specs of the JK is 4" lift stock shafts and 35's. All was installed when I purchased it.

Thanks. That's what the Mechanic at my job said but when he checked them he said they seemed tight and good.

Default Driveshaft

It was the drive shaft for me. I pulled back the boot and saw shaved metal. I had no problem in 2WD, but exactly what you describe in 4WD. Worse in L then H, more pronounced on turns. Mechanic told me U-joints. Nope... Needed a new drive shaft.

I noticed the boot was ate up pretty bad this afternoon and the shaft has a bit of play in it so think I'm going to yank it out and see what happens without the front shaft in. Really hoping that's it!
