Default Lower Control Arms..

So I am running wheels with a 4.25 backspacing and E rated tires. I have no lift save for rubi springs and 3/4 spacers. Needless to say the ride is rough over bumps and very "touchy". I am aired down to 30 PSI and everything in the front end is tight.

A few people suggested that adjustable front lower control arms could help with this even though I am not lifted.

I ordered some Teraflex adj. lowers but I am hesitant to install. I don't want to make the Jeep worse by not adjusting it correctly (to the wrong length). Also I am wondering if these will cause any other issues, such as problems with the driveline or pinion angle?

your ride is definitely rough over bumps because you have E range tires. honestly, try airing them down to about 26-28 psi and see if that helps. as far as the 'touch' part goes, are you saying that your jeep tends to wander and/or have loose steering? if so, hard tires will tend to ride on the centers of the tread and this lack of solid foot print can give you this sensation. again, just for a test, let out more air and see if it makes a difference. if it does, you should do a chalk test and run your tires at whatever psi gives you the best footprint. if not.... well, then adding a bit more positive caster should help out with that.

I had a 2" BB that I thought drove well, but when I got my teraflex lift that gave me like 3 more inches it had adj. control arms... and putting them on made my jeep drive soooooo much better. between that and the adj. track arms this thing is fantastic! I can't even make my ESP light come on anymore hardly. So I think, maybe it could help you as long as the length of the arm is short enough to not give you too much caster when fully collapsed.

When I say touchy I mean when hitting a bump the steering wheel will jerk. Not a TON but its noticable as compared to stock. Also every rut and dip in the road is transmitted to the steering wheel. It will also send a vibration through the Jeep when going over large bumps. I have tried many diff stabilizers so its not that and everything in the front end is tight.

I would think vibration and "feel" from the road transmitting through the steering wheel would more likely be from the tires. what pressure do you have in your tires? The control arms will help more with "flighty" feel and "wandering" . My opinion is tat you will benefit from them if they are not too long. All above is just my opinion though. I am no expert. WOL is though!

My new Nitto's are load range E, running 35psi all around. The thing rides every bit as good as it did on the factory suspension and Bridgestone 4 ply-ers. Have you checked you current control arm bushings and shock bushings? My last solid-axle(ram 1500) had bad lower shock bushings and a lower control arm bushing that was powder. It felt like the front end was falling out over every bump. New shocks and control arm bushings fixed her right up.

Control arm bushings look fine and just had bilstein shocks installed 1000 miles ago, so I don't think its either of those.

the only thing i can say is that your tires are most likely the culprit. i can almost guarantee that if you were to run a factory tire, you would find that your comfort level would be increased significantly. as i said before, try running even less air that you have now.

I will try that but that will certainly set off the TPMS. So control arms will do nothing for me?

you need to get the AEV procal as it will allow you to reset the tpms. control arms will not help with the symptoms you have but they will give you tighter steering.
