Default lower gears for a jk transfer case

If I want something closer to what the rubi's have (4.0), what are the choices?
Can you re-gear the normal xfer case?
Will the Rubi's bolt right into a Sahara?
How much would this cost?

thanks
Kurt

From what I have read the Rubi transfer case is a direct swap. I have also heard that some was coming out with a gear swap for the non Rubi transfer case, but haven't seen it yet. I think Joe w/ Tera Flex swapped out his transfer case.

Yup, a couple of folks have done the swap. I have done some fairly heavy wheeling and I have been quite happy with my X transfer case. 'Course I have a stick and know how to use the skinny pedal.

Yup, love it! Made a big differance with my 37's on the trail. Now it only takes a little bit of skinny pedal. Plus my Tera2Low is nice.

There is also a lil thing called a Rubicrawler that is a tcase doubler which doubles the gear ratio of your existing tcase. It is $1500 though. If you can find a rocktrac from a Rubi it's more than likely gonna be cheaper.

The only options I know are the Rubi case, Atlas 2 & 4 speeds, and if you can wait, the Atlas Rubi-Crawler.

I think a great combination would be to find a used 241OR and get the Rubi-Crawler. Not an option for me, but it would be a great set of low gear ranges! for about a grand less than the 4-speed. Coupled with the Tera2Low you get rear wheel low. The Atlas gives you the addition of front low.

Gear ranges of the options I know are or soon to be available.

NV241
2.72:1

NV241OR
4.0:1

Atlas 2 Speed
from 2.0:1 to 6.0:1

Atlas 4 Speed
2.0:1, 2.72:1, and 5.44:1
2.72:1, 3.8:1 and 10.3:1

NV241 Plus Rubi-Crawler
2.72:1 and a 7.40:1

NV241OR Rubi-Crawler
2.72:1, 4.0:1 and a 10.44:1

Default rubicrawler - slight change needed

If they would increase the ratio from 1/2.72 to 1.1/2.72. That would allow us with 3.72's get roughly 4.10's out of our daily driver plus the off-road updgrade.

For those of you with 4.10's you would get 4.5's. If they went to 1.2/2.72 it may be to much of an increase for the daily driver, but I could live with turning my 3.72's into 4.46's.

Do I hear gas savings?

Like above - I have the 6 speed and with the standard 3:72 transfer case never an issue or problem. Of course that's at 12-13 thousand feet with lots of rocks and trees and stuff............. yours may be tougher.
