Default Lowering the Driver's Seat

I'm trying to figure out if anyone has found a way to lower the driver's seat past the lowest position that the stock seat allows. I'm a pretty tall person, and my eye level is toward the top of the windshield, so I frequently have to duck down to see traffic lights and high street signs.

I posted a thread about the driver seat a few weeks ago, but nobody seemed to have a way of modifying the seat or the brackets to make it lower more. I was hoping someone with more metalworking experience could check it out and see if it could be done. I'm no mechanic or metalworker, so I would have to find somebody who would do it for me.

But for now, I'd just like to know if anything can be done.

Shouldn't be hard for someone who does metalwork to make a new seat frame. But that is pretty much what it would require.
You might be able to buy new seats for cheaper though. Not sure if the racing seats are lower or not, but someone else might.

I'm in the same boat, 6'4" and have to bend down to see traffic lights, I would love a way to lower the driver seat.

So now that I know I'm not alone- we really need to figure out a way to do this. Does anyone know of any aftermarket seats that sit lower than the stock driver's seat?

Me too.....anyone try to remove the seat height adjustment unit--that may give us an inch. I haven't tried yet....

I would also like for it to go back about 2-3 inches more. Leg room is way more than my other Jeeps, but....

I am also 6'4" and would love to lower the seat an inch or two. For now, I have a small convex mirror on my dash so that I can see lights without leaning over. I found a tinted one so I don't get bad glare during the day.

I have also seen plenty of older Jeeps with storage boxes mounted under the front seats, which would be something else to consider if cutting and welding up new seat height brackets.

Add another one to the 6'4" club.

For the most part it doesn't bother me until I need to pull up onto one of the turn signal actuators.

I took out the seat completely to get a better look underneath. If you remove the sliding unit, the seat comes down about an inch. The problem is, the holes on the legs and on the brackets (that would normally attach to the sliders) don't line up, so some drilling may be required. And I don't know if anyone would be willing to drill holes into the steel bracket. Of course another problem with removing the sliding unit is that the seat can no longer slide forward or backward. But I guess if you are the only person that ever drives the Jeep, and you are comfortable with the position that the seat will be in, you don't really need the sliders. It may be possible to drill holes further back in the brackets/legs to scoot the seat back a bit.

This obviously isn't a great solution, but I thought I'd throw it out there...

I think they still sell the prism that is mounted on the dash or windshield just for the purpose of seeing those lights up high. Fortunately in Calif most of the lights have sister lights down low.

I'd rather sit high and see what I am doing off road.
