My wife is blessing me with another child but she’s having a hard time mounting up in our 3in lifted jku on “smaller” 35s. She’s requested me to look into dropping it to factory height for the duration of her pregnancy.
We cant just do factory coils, too much full steel armor all the way around including Rugged ridge xhd fenders. Full width bumpers with winch, steel tire carrier and sliders.
I have all 8 adj CAs and advertised they can work0-6 in lifts
i have a 3inch pro comp lift
I’ve considered spacers but I don’t like the plush-ness of factory springs and all the sag under the weight. (We had 3in spacers in factory springs before and it yielded an inch and a half or so of lift with bad handling and ride.)
so I keep going back to TF’s 1.5 coil springs for around $450. But I want to hear other options throughout our vast JK community.
What would you guys think about a 2dr kit for 2.5 on the 4dr? It’ll drop it to the 1.5 we’re looking for while still leveling it yes?
I'd go the cheaper route (unless you're geared) and drop to 31's. It'll drop you about 2" which sounds like where you'd rather be anyways and you won't have to play the guessing game with coils and ride.

The tires would be a no go. Might make it a permanent lift with the 2 little ones and a five foot wife with it being our DD until we either get another ride. Or leave it shorter as the family rig and I get my trail only 2dr.
I tend to think your logic of a 2.5" lift for a JK is going to net what you're looking for on your JKU, but the obvious issue is what you already know......there's no way to REALLY tell on your specific jeep till you do it. Considering that the TF 1.5" springs are the same costs as a good 2.5" spring, the thing I think that could make the difference is resale value/demand, at which point I think a 2.5" spring for a JK makes more sense. I really don't know what the proper decision is though. Just my opinion.

Exactly. But the value of a 2.5 2dr kit will come with shocks whereas the 1.5TF kit is springs only rated for a 4dr. I would have to buy shocks separately. Which could be a blessing or a curse. 🤦🏼*♂️
You gonna be taking that thing wheelin or just staying on pavement. I mean, if it's just on pavement I'd bet your current shocks work fine. Taking it off road and y, there's going to be a difference in up/down travel. Is this just a short-term change or this is how it's going to be moving forward? I mean, if it's just short term, but 2.5" springs only and the rest should still work. You still need the raised bracket in rear and brake lines/brackets which you already have. You likely already have adjustable TB, so you're merely talking shocks and springs, and the shocks will be ok if you're just talking pavement miles.
A few other options might be: Different rails with drop steps. Little fold-up step ladder. My favorite was seeing a short female jeeper using a milk crate with a rope tied to it. It's all about what the wife is willing to put up with.

Yeah. It’ll be pavement princess for several years. I promised her I wouldn’t take it Offroad anymore since it’s our only rig atm.
But yeah I’m looking at springs only and think these pro comp shocks will be fine. But we both like to take curbs so that’s why I’m considering shocks as well.

But yeah the rails we have are a combo nerf bar/ slider. I haven’t really looked into straight nerf bars that sit lower than the body line to provide an actual step. Thanks for that bit!
