Howdy guys!

So I am collecting parts for my drive-train and axle swaps and wanted to get some ideas from you guys.

I already have a couple shaved 14 bolts and have a buddy who gets front super duty ball joint axles for $400. I was thinking about getting the Artec brackets ( JK 1 Ton Superduty Front Axle Swap ) and welding them on. I would be into it a little over $800 since I have most of the other stuff laying around (Lockers, hubs/flanges, Etc). Now the issue is no ABS, is there a way to get the super duty and 14b to take the ABS senor and work?

I am also trading some stuff for a LS 6.0 motor complete with harness, computer and everything it needs to run (Only 25k miles on it). I was planning on keeping the jeep computer also so I could use ABS, t control and the stock gauges but if there is no way to get the ABS going, I might as well just ditch the factory ECU and gauges and go with some after market gauges.

I am still looking for a transmission, prob going with the 4l80. Tcase I am not sure what to sue yet, but I do have a bunch of 205s and a NWF titan blackbox doubler laying around that could be used. I would like an atlas, but not sure its worth the money when I already have a titan blackbox and 205, and IMO the 205 is way stronger, specially with the upgraded NWF titan output shaft, but 205s do weigh more.

Whats your thoughts on this?

Invest might can point you in right direction for front ABS but look up Vick from VKS Fab as he has 14b rings that will work. Looking forward to the build and welcome to the forum

Thanks for the welcome!

I was adding up the cost of having these kits ordered or installed for v8 swaps, and also looking at the cost of pre-built axles for JKs and I couldent believe how much it all costs. hemi and LS swaps where going for over $20,000 and a set of axles where $13,000! $33,000 +! I am hoping to do this for $2000 to $3000. Guess we shall see.

I thought 05 plus super duties were plug and play? But its been a but since i played around with that shit... I got my 14b tones from vks and made my own brackets. I don't have front hooked up yet though.

Front super duty axle just requires an abs wire from a 2008 Ram. Plugs right into the hub and right into the stock JK plug.

As for rear axles, the artec kits are the way to go. There are so many variations of 14 bolt though, so if you don't have the one they spec, likely won't work. However, I'd still recommend using theirs or Dynatracs tone rings. The cuts on the VKS ones have been problematic for a lot of people.

The Sterling is an awesome axle. Not sure why people look past it. Just as strong, more clearance, and same bolt pattern as the front axle everyone uses. Plus, already has disc brakes and the Jk brake lines hook right up. And, artec makes a tone ring kit for it.

As for the engine swap, do some more homework. Cheapest I've seen anyone do it was around $7k all in. Only way to go cheaper is to rip out all the Jk electronics and run it independent. You'll still need a custom tune though. If you go that route, check pirate 4x4 for what guys building buggies are using.

I think your right. Artec said you just need a dodge part. what sucks is I dont think the super duty axles I have access too are 05+. I ay have to look for another source so i can get a newer axle.

I have a bunch of 14b laying around, but they are all older drum brakes ones. Looks like artec has a ABS kit for them that includes a disk brake conversion to boot.

What did you guys do for an ebrake?

DigitalPunk Aug 1, 2015 11:04 AM

Just verified it. The axle I can get right now or 99-2004 super duty axle. No way to get the ABS going on these???

I don't run an ebrake at this point. Ringer made a mechanical one. My 14b was an old drum one. Well the hubs were... I have 14b hubs on a d60.

Megasquirt makes the stand alone a bit easier from what a buddy has done.
