Default Lug Nuts-Factory or Gorrilla

I just ordered my Cragar soft 8s yesterday and my question is can I use the factory lug nuts or should I put in a call to Gorrilla and get me some differant ones?

I HAD the gorilla's I HATED them.. the lugs require different size wrench than stock, and the included lock needs yet another size.. I threw them out and went back to stock lugs 30K miles ago. they work perfect.

Another one for the stock lugs!!!!

I still use my stock lug nuts but some of the caps came off using an impact wrench... they still work though.

Crap. Now I'm gonna go check this out. I just had a set installed at Discount Tire about a month ago and am soon due for a rotation. I was under the impression that the lock used a standard wrench to take off and that the stock jack was of standard size. Dang it!

That's exactly why I would change them out to solid nuts. If you are out on the trail and break off a cap you're going to have a fun time trying to get off the nut if you don't have the right size "under nut".

DO NOT USE THE "TUNER" NUTS. I bought my wheels/tires from 4wheelparts.com and did not add lug nuts to the order so I called them the next day to add some. (black rims so I wanted black lugs nuts also) Did not specify and he sold me the high priced ones (gorrilla) that are spline drive. I hate them because the socket broke and I was in a jam. Had to special order a socket.

Buy what ever your heart desires but make sure they are regular 3/4" socket driven and leave the tuner sh*t to the rice'ers. Also, just verify the lug nut and wheel have the same cone (i.e. 60 degree) you do want the two to mate up properly.

I use gorillas and they work great. I don't use the crappy factory lug wrench.

I have a gorrilla 1/2" drive extendable lug wrench that comes with 2 dual sockets. It was only 15 bucks. 20 Gorilla lugnuts are like 50 bucks.

Why would you spend a couple thousand on wheels/tires but go cheap on lug nuts?

X2. Exactly the same story, except mine was about 22K miles ago. I'll also add that because of the larger Gorilla lug nut size, none of my tire tools worked with my Procomp 7089 wheels--I needed a very thin socket to fit into the smaller hole with the larger lug nut. Plus, I had a set of four instead of five, which meant that my spare tire had a different lug nut key than the tires on the dirt. Good riddance, Gorilla!
