Default Making sure I get the right parts

Im planning very shortly to pull the trigger on the TeraFlex 3" Spring Lift with Shocks (1251200). I know that I will need a new front driveshaft. The one I plan to purchase is the JE Reel 1310 CV Heady Duty Front Driveshaft part (31JK-42F). I plan on running the BFGKM2's in 35X12.5X17 on a set of Rock Crawler Series 97 wheels with 4.5'' backspacing and rim width of 8inchs. Also in my plans is to purchase the AEV procal unit to recal my speedometer.

I understand that in the future I will want 5.13 gearing (i have a auto trans) and to get at minimum a set of adjustable trackbars. I guess also in the future would be to upgrade the front axle shafts for additional strength.

My main question is do I have the right driveshaft picked out. And am I missing something huge that will prevent me from driving my jeep right after I do the install.

Thanks

With just 3 inches and your 4 door jeep you could get away without a new driveshaft for now.

Sounds like you have everything in order though.

You can wait on buying a front shaft. I didn't have any problems with my front shaft after putting the lift on for about 7000 miles. I went with a coast drive shaft (I didn't want to change the yolks and I liked that the cv joint had 1350 u joints).

Until you start wheeling/flexing it. Then your front driveshaft can/will snag the boot and spew it's grease.

Install the coils and flex it out and check your driveshaft clearance, that way you have a idea as to when it may become a problem.

LtGryStnPrlJK you're reading my mind! I have Unlimited Auto and I'm thinking about 35s & 2.5-3" lift -thanks for double checking.

As far as the front shaft/boot tear, it does seem like it will inevitably need the replacement.
According to this earlier thread its about 50-50 chance as reported by the small sample group of JK members with 3" lift/autos. (6 no tear yet, 7 report tears)

Guess it depends on how extreme you wheel it or flex?

Or maybe which 3" lift (or more specifically rig setup & bumper/winch weight)?
Ideers?

I also should have mentioned that I put a few large washers between my skid plat and frame to give me more room ( about 1/8”) so my boot would not rip. My U joint and cv joint started to have some play.

confused about the drive shaft thing. Is the 1350 just a heavier duty driveshaft or does the number have to do with they type of mounting. What part numbers are people buying these things so they are direct bolt on so it doesnt have to be adapted. Thanks
