Default MBRP off road exhaust questions

Just a quick question about the MBRP offroad exhaust. I understand that this is a muffler relocation kit, but where it is relocated to, there is no heat sheild. Is this a concern/problem? Also, does this exhaust have a nice tone to it? I know it says on the website "nice exhaust tone" but i would rather take someones word for it that wasnt selling the product, and running one. Is it louder then the stock exhaust?
Thanks in advance for the responses, appreciate it

I have this kit. I recommend getting the stainless steel version over the black version. All my black chipped away in about 2 weeks ;(.

It relocates the muffler to just under the driver's seat and it spits out over the rear axle. I don't know about hear shield concerns, but it does make a 'sizzling' sound sometimes when turn off and exit the vehicle.

To me, the sound is great. Nice and deep, and not obnoxious. My only concern is that it will sputter from time to time when letting off the gas, but I think this is a problem with most exhausts.

Overall, great kit. I'm happy.

I've had this exhaust for about a year and can honestly recommend it. As already said the sound is great (as good as this little 6 cylinder can sound). You may find that the sound improves over time. I'm not sure if this is just a perception or reality, but I swear it sounds better now than it did right after installation.
I havent had any negative effects from the new muffler location (4 door). Absolutly no damage from wheel'n, which I cant say for the stock set up. (And no, this is not on a mall crawler... the dealership guy said it looks like I ran over a tank)

Default MBRP Ofroad exhaust

I just installed the stainless version on my Unlimited today.
The hardest part of it was getting the old junk out from under there.
I did have to debur the slot in one end of the muffler to get the pipe to slide all the way in.
It sound pretty good and once you get up to speed it is really quiet.
When you get on the gas it has a nice deep growl. I like it.
I was scared that it was going to be loud inside the cab and droning , but it is not.

I have had the MBRP off road system for about 7 months. 2009 4dr. Rubicon. It seemed somewhat loud at first, but mostly because stock was so quiet! (sounds like a Quad!) If you want luxury quiet, try the other system they make with the factory muffler location. It is noticeable especially talking hands free cellular or talking to passengers. I removed my carpet and have Line-X'd interior, this could be why it seems loud, but it wasn't a problem with factory exhaust. You pay for a high flow with more noise, simple fact. It does sound better from a performance perspective. I too was concerned about heat shield. May fab one out of old shield. I have not noticed any heat problems, and it has been 104 deg. at my house.
Major problem I am having is the 2nd. hangar rod from the rear is too short and can barely make it into rubber hangar, does not even stick through at all,and it does not stay in! It slips out quickly and easily, then the entire system twists, and it has melted my drive side E-brake cable sheath and it sometimes rattles. The flared ends of the OEM system should have been duplicated, and the rod made to match length, also, the locating pins and matching cut outs should have been carried over as well for a more "stable" connection of the pipe sections.

Who would buy a black coated off road pipe? Def. buy the SS one who cares about what it looks like, its meant to not be seen so its tucked up out of the way for better departure angle.

Definately get the stainless steel. You don't by a muffler for looks, and the ss has a lifetime warranty

I picked up this exhaust, had read in the past that the muffler sits to close to floor and will melt the carpet? anyone with a four door have that issue or is it safe for me to shove this mod on? thanks ahead for the info!
