Default MBRP Rack Extension

Does anyone have the MBRP roof rack extension? I'm wondering what happens when you take off the hard top and freedom panels.

Does the extension attached to the windshield just hang there? Do the connecting pieces separate at all leaving just the windshield bar portion attached, or is it all one piece?

Or would you need to remove the whole extension piece from the windshield mounts?

I have it and it just stays mounted on the front portion of the windshield, no need to remove it to take the panels off. It stays whether you get just the front extension or the light bar/extension. Once it's assembled it's essentially one solid piece, that can be adjusted for your roof rack needs.

Any pics? I am not certain about drilling holes in my hard top. I also have a soft top so is it easy to remove for when I want to go with the soft top?

If you have a photo of it with the top/freedom panels off, that would be awesome.

This is the closest one that I have with the panels in it. They lift up and slide out in a matter of minutes. This thing is solid once it's on, but beware it does make the hard top a bit heavier. Instead of two people I now try to find a third or even fourth to make the transition from soft to hard really simple.

This pic is super old when I first put it on. My rig doesn't even look like this anymore, but it gives you a good idea of how the complete rack looks. Yes it's really expensive but it's worth it.

Just read Wncian's post and realized it doesn't fit the 2011... FML.

The size of the rear windows are different on the 2011's and up they're larger in the back on all three sides.

I sent them an email and they said they were releasing a new design for the '11's later this year......
