Anyone have this on a 4dr? I want to be able to just cover the back seats for my kids! I love no top....just a little sunscreen and im good to go!
If i buy the dirty dog or the spider.....Can you just cover the rear seats in a 4dr? in answer to your question matador, his mesh is modular. front only / rear only / front + rear. try it, it's great! |

the guy who runs dirty dog 4x4 is a friend of mine and has great products. i'm not shilling for him honestly. his mesh is better quality than the spiderweb. spider web is a more firm plastic mesh whereas ddog4x4 uses the same kind of mesh used for padding on outdoor furniture. it's UV / mold / mildew resistant and again, isn't so rigid as the spiderweb. his fit is also much better. i can vouch that he is a legit guy and he stands behind his product 100%. i promise you won't be disappointed with anything you own from ddog 4x4.

I don't know the guy but will attest to the fact that it is a quality product....exactly what I was looking for. The mesh is better tha Bestops...thicker....and the fit is great!

I just ordered the DIRTYDOG mesh top. He's Canadian so had to order from him :yup:
Looks like a great top! From the pictures it looks like it fits better. Now I won't roast the kids in the back! |
Just ordered the dirtydog ... from the pics it looks like it provides more coverage than the spiderweb (ie, spider web has small spaces btw the mesh and the roll bar).

I'm going to look into the Dirty Dog top. I'm pretty unhappy with Bestop right now. Have been waiting for a replacement for my Trektop for 6 weeks (rear window not installed correctly) ordered thru 4WP, and the mesh bikini top I ordered from Quadratec in April arrived with a missing strap (the one in the middle with hook that goes into the sound bar). Quadratec submitted the claim to have them send me the strap and I called today to find out that Bestop left me a message at my home a couple weeks ago (? don't recall getting one) about "updated instructions." Not sure how updated instructions will help with a missing strap but perhaps they misunderstood. Now Quadratech wants me to send the top back as Bestop will not honor the warranty. This doesn't seem right...so how long do I have to wait for a repalcement? I may just ask Quadratech to give me my $ back. I like the fact that the Dirty Dog will fit under my defective :rotflmao2: Trektop.
I did like the mesh top, but wasn't happy with the fit. Instructions were very difficult to understand for installation with the softtop surrounds in place so we kinda just had to wing it. |
I agree also the Dirty Dog Site is poorly designed, with crappy photo's,He needs to have more pics from the side and the back of the 4 door JK`s. I've seen this product on a 2 door and it looks great, gonna be ordering it soon! I keep sayin i'm not gonna spend any more money on my Jeep for awhile though.... bad JEEP!:donttell: the girlfriend will find out soon enough..... P.S. I hate to wait for the stuff I order through the internet!:gak:

Ordered the Dirty Dog today. Looking forward to getting it.
Thankfullly, I can return the Bikini I bought last month. Bestop makes decent tops, but the bikini just fits terribly... if they did away with the header requirement, it would be a much better product. |
I ordered too from their e-bay shop yesterday. I´m looking forward:ya:

Or you could spend some time and save yourself about $100.
All I do to install the hardtop is disconnect velcro at the two windshield loops. The rest stays in place. (I poked a couple holes through the mesh with the freedom top hold-downs, but no effect on sun blockage or wind noise.) |
