Default Mesh top question

really quick and simple question. Do the mesh tops provide ANY protection from light rain. I wouldn't expect it to stop a downpour, but how about the late afternoon showers that hit unexpectedly? I don't have any particular vendor in mind at the moment, but if one will provide a little more rain cover than the others, it will move to the top of my list.

thanks,

well, it is a mesh and so, i kinda doubt it. maybe if you were on the move as the windshield helps to deflect rain pretty good as it is but, at a stand still, i'd bet you'd still get wet. i don't know, maybe something is better than nothing - i do have a dirty dog 4x4 mesh top and, i'm sure i'll find out some day

Default The one I have

The one I have might keep it off of you if you were moving. The holes are pretty small but if you were sitting then the build up would allow it to seep through.
Mine is the Rampage Mesh bikini top.

I have a Dirty Dog one(great product)
it does keep you initially dry at first..... But depending on how hard it's raining it(the rain) starts coming down inside the jeep pretty heavy down the sides and front.... You stay dry at first the JK still gets water in it then you start getting big drops coming thru the mesh.

I have the spidertop mesh and as you can expect with it being a mesh... it lets water through. If its light rain it doesn't help much, it just splatters on your face in smaller drops instead of big drops. Once it starts raining more then it doesn't do much. Jacket with a hood is best

Default not really

do not count on it to keep you from getting wet. how fast are you driving and how hard is the rain. setting still no question about water getting through, yes it will.

I think they covered this on Mythbusters. You just need to drive above 110 and you should be set.

The VDP coolshade does block a light rain provided if it is short-lived or you keep moving in my experience. The 3 piece dirty dog has a bigger weave/net and no such luck there but I like the fact I can roll out the softop right over it with only having to remove 4 of the bungies. No experience with spider shades but I think I read the weave/net is larger still.

Well, if you're on a road trip and happen to get some rain and decide to put the top up... You get wet twice. First when it starts to rain, and when you realize it won't let up and you put the top on, it still rains because it drips on you for a while until the mesh dries out.

It's still a great thing to have, but it doesn't stop rain.

Yeah my Spider web shade helped a when I got caught in the rain. When your moving it kind of catches it and runs back. When you stop though, no, not at all.
