Mid TF 2.5 Coil + Shocks Install - Questions
Couple questions mid install. The shocks. The instructions only tell you how to install shock adapters. They do not say anything about the TF shocks. It seems self explanatory, but I want to make sure I have the washers and rubber pieces correct. So from top down it goes:
Nut -> Washer w/ lip facing down -> rubber bumper -> through the hole -> Rubber Bumper -> washer with lip facing up is this correct?
Also, How tight does the nut need to be at the top? I know it says 56 ft lbs, but a) there is no way in hell my torque wrench is fitting up there, and b) it just keeps smashing the rubber down more and more which I would imagine is not supposed to happen. So how tight is good enough?
When you do the install, is it necessary to loosen the rear control arms as well? Or only the front?
Next, I dropped my axle on the drivers side. Yes I am an idiot. So I had the jack more towards the passenger side, so when I unhooked the sway bar and shock on the drivers side, even though it was supported by the jack the axle fell pretty good. Not all the way to the ground or anything, but enough so that it was basically hanging by the Brake lines and the air hose for the differential. How do I tell if my brake lines are OK? Would they basically be ripped? Or will I not know until I cant stop?
Lastly (for now) I did the front first following the writeup on Project JK. Well the writeup is for the BB, so now, in the TF instructions, it says to put the rear sway bars on the front. Well since, I have not done the rear, I cannot do that. So is it OK to go ahead and assemble everything without the sway bars for now and come back to that at the end?
Sorry for all the (probably dumb) questions. This is the first time I have done anything like this, and along with being pretty stressful on a brand new jeep, I messed up when I dropped my axle. I about shat myself.
