Default Middy bumper end caps?

I'm wanting to shorten my OE bumper a bit, but unlike a stubby i don't want to cut into the steel.

Does anyone know of any caps or any homemade ideas for cleaning up the ends after simply cutting off the plastic to about where the steel starts?

I found one thread of someone who has done this, i'd just like to clean up the ends a little more

Problem with the VDP endcaps is you have to cut into the steel, i would like to try and avoid this if possible.

Bump..

also, I'm wondering if anyone has simply put on any of the aftermarket endcaps without cutting so far in as to not cut into the metal?

How come everyone is so against cutting the metal? I installed mine and only had to cut off a couple inches if that.

If you don't cut to the metal and install the caps a few inches out, it may not look right with the thinner piece of bumper between the thicker cap and thicker center piece.

Just cut the plastic and install any after market end caps. You don't HAVE to cut the metal, most do because it looks better.

It's more of a safety thing for me. I don't mind cutting off plastic that would be useless in a crash, but removing part of the steel bumper that actually might be of use in a front end collision is just something I dont really want to do, even if it is only a couple inches.
