Default Mile Maker SEC8 Winch...

Is the Milemarker SEC8 winch any good? Seems like a good deal and a nice alternative to the Smittybilt XRC8. The XRC8 just makes me a bit more nervous than this unit because Milemaker has a bit more of a "better" reputation. ANybody running this winch or have any thoughts about it?

I mean for $200 more I could always get a Warn M8000, but its's till $200...

The Mile Marker is the slowest winch on the market. Unloaded it only pulls 13' per minute. If you had all the cable out it would take the better part of 10 minutes to get the cable back on the spool.

Its a decent winch, just way too slow for me.

When I first started looking at winches,I ran across the Mile Marker at Costco. It looked like a pretty good deal until I saw the speed.

The XRC8 I ended up with actually pulls 4000lbs faster then the MM does unloaded.

Default mile marker

the MM might pull slower. but it pulls more at a lower amp. which also means less draw from battery.

The XRC8 uses 40% more amps,but pulls 40% faster.

Larger load on the charging system for a shorter amount of time.

Smaller load on the charging system for a longer amount of time.

Its a wash.
