Default Mirror Relocation - Am I missing something?

I bought a mirror relocation kit the other day, and when I went to install it today, I couldn't get the mirrors to pull off of the base (my kit requires me to separate the actual mirror from the piece that goes through the door with 2 pins). I removed the bolt from the underside of the mirrors, and then I and 3 other strong friends tried to get them off, and it just seems impossible! I have a 2010, and I know jeep made some small changed to this part after the 08 models. Has anyone else had a hell of a time trying to separate the 2 mirror components?

I tried everything, including twisting it back and forth, jimmying it around, and using a mallet and a thin Allen key to try and loosen it up but it is STUCK. Please note I tried it on both mirrors.

Thanks guys, any advice is much appreciated.

The first time I removed mine they were the same way. I ended up calling Rugged Ridge tech line and this is what they had me do. I backed the bolt that holds the mirror on the peice that goes through almost all the way out. Then I put the screw driver with the torque bit in the end and hit it with a mallet until it broke loose. Don,t back the screw out to much or you can strip the threads out while you are pounding on it. It is threaded into aluminum. The next time they came off a lot easier. I have since bought the kit that permently moves them off the door. Before I had to move them every time I took the doors off.
