Default Modification Advice:

I just sold my 2007 Jeep Wrangler 2DR X, Manual, and I bought a 2008 Jeep Rubicon, 4DR, Auto...

As far as my major mods, I had a 3.5" Suspension lift, a 1" body lift, 17" wheels, with 37" Tires, Airaid Intake, Gibson Exhaust... but I never brought it off road because I was told the stock axles in the X were not strong enough to handle the abuse... sooooo, with that said, I'm looking to do the right thing on my new Rubi, and the same co. I used last time (Fortec Jeeps) is telling me I need a 4" suspension lift, 2" body lift to clear 38"x15.50"x18 - Toyo's MT's... but I really wanted to go with 40's... they said I cannot do it without changing drive shafts, etc.

Here are my questions:

What exactly do I have to do to fit 40's?
Best Lift Kits for smoothest daily driver type of ride, yet great off road still...
What is the best Intake?
Are any tunes/chips worth the money?
Exhaust? (I liked Gibson, but want a wider separation of the dial tips... trying to avoid having them customized)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Just an opinion, but spend a few weeks browsing and searching the different lift options to get you up on 40's. Then look into all of the axle build-up threads to see just how much work you'll need to do to run them. Then look at the supercharger/hemi swap threads because you won't be happy with the power on the stock engine. Then ...

I think you'll find the answers to all of these questions if you read the first couple pages of posts for the modified forum. The answers are quite varied on all of the above subjects...there is no exact answer.

You can fit 40s a lot of ways, but I think if you want the best overall ride you'll want to get a long-arm kit that'll give you a nice smooth ride and clearance for those big tires. There is no such thing as a good intake - they all are worthless. The exhaust will give you nice sound, but if its performance (I gather) that you're looking for you're wasting your money with intakes and exhaust.

I hear a lot of good things about all the tuners. Superchips seems to be the hot item at the moment. Kinda depends on what you need it to do as to which one is the best.

To get 38s under there a 4" lift with 1" body would work and look better, as far as 40s, id recommend a 6" long arm like JackMac suggested, look up member JPTwinz, he has 40" tires with a 6" long arm with a 1" body lift and i also believe coil spring spacers, along with flat fenders, and also a Gibson dual exhaust, and it looks sick! As far as intakes, the Jk comes with a decent intake already so a drop in filter from K&N would help but im also one of the guys that believes cold air intakes do help and combined with a good exhaust and tuner/chip such as Jet, Hypertech, Superchips, etc. will make for a very decent power increase. Good Luck with everything!
