Default moding stock side steps

Has anyone ripped apart the stock molded side steps? I welded up some tube doors and I want to do some tube side steps and was thinking if there was a skeleton under all that plastic I could weld to or even just those brackets any info or pics would be appreciated

I have seen people weld step tubes to stock rubi rails. Don't think you will have much luck with stock side steps.

I would pick up a set of Rubi rock rails. Way mire durable, and you can weld to them. The stock steps are mostly plastic and worthless honestly .
